WEATHER SUMMARY  
FOR SASKATCHEWAN  
ISSUED BY ENVIRONMENT CANADA  
AT 8:16 P.M. CST THURSDAY 14 JUNE 2018.  
 
DISCUSSION.  
 
A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM TRACKED THROUGH SOUTHEASTERN SASKATCHEWAN THIS  
AFTERNOON, TOUCHING OFF THUNDERSTORMS AS IT ENCOUNTERED A WARM MOIST  
AIRMASS MOVING IN FROM NORTH DAKOTA. SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS  
BECAME SEVERE, PROMPTING SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AND TORNADO WATCHES AND  
WARNINGS.  
 
WHILE NO TORNADOES WERE OBSERVED IN SASKATCHEWAN TODAY, SEVERE WINDS  
AND VERY LARGE HAIL CAUSED CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE IN THE ESTEVAN AREA.  
 
HERE IS A SUMMARY OF SOME OF THE REPORTS RECEIVED BY ENVIRONMENT  
CANADA - ALL TIMES ARE CST.  
 
NICKEL SIZED HAIL AT 1:48 P.M. JUST WEST OF CARLYLE.  
 
GOLF TO TENNIS BALL SIZED HAIL IN ESTEVAN AND AREA AROUND 4:00 P.M.  
CAUSED CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE AS IT WAS ACCOMPANIED BY VERY STRONG  
WINDS. DAMAGE REPORTED INCLUDED FLATTENED CROPS, DAMAGED VEHICLES,  
BROKEN WINDSHIELDS, BROKEN WINDOWS, AND DAMAGED SIDING.  
 
AT 4:20 P.M. TOONIE SIZED HAIL WAS REPORTED AT NORTH PORTAL WHICH  
BROKE SOME WINDSHIELDS.  
 
A STORM CHASER JUST EAST OF ESTEVAN MEASURED A WIND GUST OF 151 KM/H  
AT 4:20 P.M. BEFORE THE WIND DRIVEN HAIL BROKE HIS ANEMOMETER.  
 
A FUNNEL CLOUD WAS OBSERVED AT 4:20 P.M. JUST WEST OF MELFORT.
