THE TROPICAL STORM WARNINGS FOR AGRIHAN AND PAGAN IN THE NORTHERN  
MARIANAS HAVE BEEN CANCELED AS OF 5 PM CHST.

THIS LOCAL STATEMENT PROVIDES INFORMATION AND RECOMMENDED ACTIONS  
FOR PEOPLE ON AGRIHAN AND PAGAN IN THE COMMONWEALTH OF THE NORTHERN  
MARIANAS.  
   
WATCHES/WARNINGS
 
 
THE TROPICAL STORM WARNINGS FOR AGRIHAN AND PAGAN IN THE NORTHERN  
MARIANAS HAVE BEEN CANCELED AS OF 5 PM CHST, LEAVING NO WATCHES OR  
WARNINGS IN EFFECT.  
   
STORM INFORMATION
 
 
AT 4 PM CHST...0600 UTC...THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM JELAWAT WAS  
LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 19.8 NORTH AND LONGITUDE 146.0 EAST. THIS IS  
ABOUT 70 MILES NORTH-NORTHEAST OF AGRIHAN AND 120 MILES NORTH OF  
PAGAN.  
 
TROPICAL STORM JELAWAT WAS MOVING TOWARD THE EAST-NORTHEAST AT 14  
MPH. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS WERE 45 MPH.  
   
SITUATION OVERVIEW
 
 
TROPICAL STORM JELAWAT IS WEAKENING RAPIDLY AS IT IS BEING ABSORBED  
INTO A FRONTAL BOUNDARY TO ITS NORTH. ALL THE TROPICAL STORM FORCE  
WINDS ARE ON THE NORTH SIDE NOW, ASSOCIATED WITH THE BOUNDARY.

THIS WILL BE THE LAST LOCAL STATEMENT ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER  
SERVICE ON TROPICAL STORM JELAWAT.  
   
..AGRIHAN AND PAGAN
 
 
   
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
 
 
REMAIN IN SHELTER OVERNIGHT. WINDS HAVE DIMINISHED AS AGRIHAN AND  
PAGAN ARE NOW ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY. THE FRONTAL  
BOUNDARY IS EXPECTED TO MOVE SOUTHWARD PAST PAGAN AND WINDS AND  
SHOWERS WILL INCREASE ONCE AGAIN. INTER-ISLAND TRAVEL IS DISCOURAGED  
THROUGH WEDNESDAY.  
   
..WIND INFORMATION
 
 
WINDS HAVE DIMINISHED ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE FRONT AND ARE NOW  
ESTIMATED AS WEST AT 10 TO 20 MPH. BY SUNRISE WINDS WILL TURN FROM  
THE NORTH AND INCREASE TO 20 TO 30 MPH AS THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY  
CROSSES THE ISLANDS. WINDS WILL TURN TOWARD THE NORTHEAST AND START  
TO GRADUALLY DIMINISH ON TUESDAY.  
   
..STORM SURGE AND SURF INFORMATION
 
 
HAZARDOUS SURF OF 12 TO 15 FEET ALONG ALL EXCEPT EAST FACING REEFS  
WILL TURN ON MONDAY BECOMING HAZARDOUS SURF OF 12 TO 15 FEET ALONG  
ALL EXCEPT SOUTH FACING REEFS. SURF WILL THEN GRADUALLY DIMINISH...  
HOWEVER IT WILL REMAIN HAZARDOUS THROUGH AT LEAST WEDNESDAY. WAVES  
WILL BE MORE THAN 10 FEET THROUGH WEDNESDAY DUE TO SWELLS CREATED  
BY THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY.  
   
..OTHER STORM EFFECTS
 
 
RAINFALL ACCUMULATION OF LESS THAN HALF AN INCH IS EXPECTED WITH THE  
PASSAGE OF THE FRONTAL SYSTEM THAT ABSORBED TROPICAL STORM JELAWAT.
