FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR CENTRAL/SOUTHEAST ILLINOIS
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LINCOLN IL
245 PM CDT FRI MAY 4 2018

DISCUSSION

HIGH PRESSURE WILL SETTLE OVER THE CENTRAL ILLINOIS AREA THROUGH
SATURDAY PRODUCING MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES AND WINDS BECOMING LIGHT
AND VARIABLE TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT. ON SUNDAY, ANOTHER
WEATHER SYSTEM AND COLD FRONT WILL PRODUCE AN INCREASE IN WINDS,
TURNING FROM WESTERLY IN THE MORNING, TO NORTHERLY BY AFTERNOON AS
THE FRONT CROSSES THE AREA. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL
ACCOMPANY THIS SYSTEM MAINLY SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH AFTERNOON.
RAINFALL AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE WELL UNDER A QUARTER INCH AT
MOST LOCATIONS. THE NEXT CHANCE FOR HEAVIER RAINFALL IS NOT
EXPECTED BEFORE WEDNESDAY. AFTERNOON RELATIVE HUMIDITY LEVELS ARE
LIKELY TO BE QUITE LOW SATURDAY, AND AGAIN MONDAY AND TUESDAY.

VENTILATION RATES SATURDAY AND SUNDAY WILL BE GOOD TO VERY GOOD.
SATURDAY WILL HAVE DEEP MIXING DEPTHS AND LIGHT TRANSPORT WINDS,
THEN MIXING DEPTHS WILL DECREASE AS TRANSPORT WINDS INCREASE
SUNDAY, PRODUCING COMPARABLE VENTILATION RATES.

THIS AFTERNOON, FRIDAY MAY 4TH, IS THE LAST ISSUANCE OF THE
ROUTINE FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR THE SPRING SEASON. THE
ROUTINE FORECAST WILL RESUME FOR THE FALL SEASON BY EARLY
OCTOBER.
