STRONG RISES OCCURRED OVER THE HEADWATERS OF THE GAULEY...ELK...  
CHEAT...AND TYGART VALLEY RIVERS...  
 
RAIN AMOUNTS OF 1.5 TO 2.5 INCHES IN 12 HOURS FELL OVERNIGHT  
ACROSS THE CENTRAL MOUNTAINS OF WEST VIRGINIA. THIS RESULTED IN  
STRONG RISES ON MANY HEADWATER RIVERS.  
 
YET...NO SIGNIFICANT FLOODING IS EXPECTED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER  
SERVICE.  
 
IN THE MILL CREEK VICINITY OF RANDOLPH COUNTY...THE TYGART VALLEY  
RIVER WAS CRESTING TODAY NEAR ITS 11 FOOT BANKFULL LEVEL.  
 
ON THE UPPER ELK RIVER...DOWN STREAM OF WEBSTER SPRINGS...CLIFTON  
FORD CRESTED AROUND 10.8 FEET THIS MORNING. BANKFULL THERE IS 13  
FEET.  
 
DUE TO EVEN DRIER SOIL CONDITIONS BEFORE THE RAIN...THE HEAVY  
RAIN OVER THE HEADWATERS OF GREENBRIER RIVER CAUSED ONLY A 2 TO 3  
FOOT WATER RISE ON THE RIVER THROUGH POCAHONTAS COUNTY.  
 
ADDITIONAL RAINS INTO THURSDAY ARE EXPECTED TO BE LIGHT...AND  
HAVE LITTLE OR NO EFFECT ON RIVER LEVELS.
