AT 122 AM EDT...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THE LEADING EDGE OF AN AREA  
OF HEAVY RAIN SHOWERS ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM 5 MILES SOUTHWEST  
OF DEEP GAP TO 4 MILES SOUTH OF BEECH MOUNTAIN...MOVING SOUTH AT 10  
MPH. RADAR INDICATED RAINFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES WITH THE  
HEAVIER SHOWERS IN THE LINE...AND THESE RAINFALL RATES WILL LIKELY  
CONTINUE OVER AVERY AND NORTHWEST CALDWELL COUNTIES UNTIL AT LEAST 2  
AM.  
 
THE HEAVY RAIN SHOWERS WILL ESPECIALLY IMPACT NEWLAND...BLOWING ROCK  
IN CALDWELL COUNTY...BANNER ELK...BEECH MOUNTAIN IN AVERY  
COUNTY...CROSSNORE...SUGAR MOUNTAIN...SEVEN DEVILS...AND THE BLUE  
RIDGE PARKWAY FROM LINVILLE FALLS TO GRANDFATHER MOUNTAIN. THE HEAVY  
RAINFALL MAY ALSO SPREAD INTO THE AREA FROM EDGEMONT TO GLOBE TO  
UPTON IN CALDWELL COUNTY.  
 
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...  
 
TORRENTIAL RAINFALL MAY FLOOD AREAS WITH POOR DRAINAGE...SUCH AS  
DITCHES AND UNDERPASSES. AVOID THESE AREAS AND DO NOT CROSS FLOODED  
ROADS. WATER LEVELS OF SMALL STREAMS AND RIVERS MAY ALSO RISE  
RAPIDLY. SEEK HIGHER GROUND IF THREATENED BY FLOOD WATERS.
