THE FIRST DAY OF AUTUMN ACROSS NEW MEXICO WILL BE WINDY AND COOLER.  
DAYTIME HIGHS WILL RANGE IN THE 70S NORTH AND WEST TO MID 80S,  
LOW 90S CENTRAL AND EAST. SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL BE STRONG ACROSS  
THE CENTRAL AND WESTERN HIGHLANDS TO THE NORTH CENTRAL MOUNTAINS  
AND NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS. STRONGER GUSTS WILL FAVOR NORTH CENTRAL  
AND NORTHEASTERN AREAS. SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM CHANCES WILL ALSO  
INCREASE ACROSS THE EAST THIS AFTERNOON AS MOISTURE IS DRAWN  
NORTHWARD.  
 
SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY WILL RAMP UP TONIGHT INTO THE  
WEEKEND WITH STRONG TO SEVERE CHANCES FAVORING AREAS EAST OF THE  
CENTRAL MOUNTAIN CHAIN. HEAVY DOWNPOURS, FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND  
LIGHTNING, GUSTY WINDS, AND HAIL WILL ACCOMPANY STRONG TO SEVERE
