VALID 00Z WED OCT 11 2017 - 00Z FRI OCT 13 2017

...HEAVY RAIN POSSIBLE ACROSS THE OHIO VALLEY AND MID-ATLANTIC
TONIGHT AND WEDNESDAY...

...WELL ABOVE AVERAGE TEMPERATURES EXPECTED TO CONTINUE ACROSS
PARTS OF THE EASTERN U.S. WITH NUMEROUS RECORD WARM MINIMAS
FORECAST...

...WELL BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE CENTRAL STATES SHOULD
BEGIN TO MODERATE BY WEDNESDAY...

A FRONTAL BOUNDARY WILL PUSH EASTWARD ACROSS THE OHIO VALLEY AND
THE DEEP SOUTH TONIGHT, EVENTUALLY STALLING ALONG THE SOUTHEAST
COAST BY THURSDAY. EXPECT SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO ACCOMPANY
THIS SYSTEM ACROSS MUCH OF THE EASTERN THIRD OF THE NATION WITH
THE BEST THREAT FOR HEAVY RAINFALL NEAR THE LOW ACROSS THE UPPER
MIDWEST AND OHIO VALLEY TONIGHT, INTO THE NORTHERN MID-ATLANTIC
REGION BY WEDNESDAY.

AHEAD OF THIS FRONT, A HOT AND HUMID AIR MASS WILL REMAIN IN PLACE
ACROSS THE EASTERN STATES WITH AFTERNOON HIGH TEMPERATURES AS MUCH
AS 10 TO 15 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL, AND DEW POINT VALUES MORE
REMINISCENT OF SUMMER RATHER THAN MID-OCTOBER. IN FACT, SEVERAL
LOCATIONS ACROSS THE MID-ATLANTIC, THE SOUTHEAST, AND THE
CENTRAL/SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS ARE FORECASTING RECORD VALUES FOR
WARM OVERNIGHT LOW TEMPERATURES TONIGHT AND ON WEDNESDAY. BY
THURSDAY, TEMPERATURES MAY MODERATE A BIT BUT ARE EXPECTED TO
REMAIN ABOVE AVERAGE AS PERSISTENT UPPER LEVEL RIDGING REMAINS IN
PLACE.

ON THE OTHER HAND, MUCH OF THE CENTRAL U.S. HAS SEEN WELL BELOW
NORMAL TEMPERATURES THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS WHERE WIDESPREAD
FREEZE AND HARD FREEZE WARNINGS WERE IN EFFECT. THESE TEMPERATURES
SHOULD BEGIN TO INCREASE TO NEAR NORMAL VALUES BY WEDNESDAY AND
EVENTUALLY ABOVE NORMAL AS SOUTHERLY FLOW PULLS IN A MORE MILD AIR
MASS AHEAD OF AN ADVANCING SYSTEM FROM THE WEST. ELSEWHERE ACROSS
THE COUNTRY, STRONG TROUGHING MOVING INTO THE WESTERN U.S. WILL
BRING RAIN SHOWERS TO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST STATES AND WINTRY
PRECIPITATION TO THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE NORTHWEST AND
NORTHERN ROCKIES.
