..SNOW EXPECTED ACROSS THE CASCADES AND NORTHERN ROCKIES

..HEAVY RAIN POSSIBLE OVER PARTS OF UPPER MIDWEST

..SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE OVER CENTRAL PLAINS AND MIDWEST

A DIGGING UPPER LEVEL TROUGH OVER THE WESTERN U.S. WILL BRING
UNSETTLED WEATHER THROUGHOUT THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND THE
NORTHERN ROCKIES. MEANWHILE, ONSHORE FLOW WILL ENCOURAGE MOISTURE
TO FLOW ACROSS THE REGION WHICH WILL PROMOTE HIGHER ELEVATION SNOW
THROUGHOUT THE WASHINGTON AND OREGON CASCADES IN ADDITION TO THE
NORTHERN ROCKIES. SNOWFALL WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES. THE TROUGH WILL
SLIDE TO THE EAST OVERNIGHT AND WILL BE CENTERED OVER THE GREAT
BASIN BY SATURDAY MORNING. LINGERING SNOW SHOWERS COULD LAST
THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING IN SOME PARTS OF THE NORTHERN ROCKIES.
HOWEVER, THE MAJORITY OF SNOWFALL WILL COME TO AN END FOR THIS
REGION.

AS THE UPPER LEVEL TROUGH SHIFTS TOWARD THE PLAINS, A SURFACE COLD
FRONT WILL STRENGTHEN AS IT MOVES FROM THE PLAINS TO THE
MISSISSIPPI VALLEY ON SATURDAY. INITIALLY, THE FRONT WILL BE
STALLED ACROSS THE PLAINS AND MIDWEST--CREATING A FOCUS FOR
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO DEVELOP ALONG THE BOUNDARY. THIS
REGION DOES HAVE A SLIGHT RISK FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS--WITH HAIL
AND WIND DAMAGE BEING THE PRIMARY RISK. THE FRONT WILL PUSH
EASTWARD OVER THE UPPER MIDWEST BY SATURDAY EVENING. HEAVY
RAINFALL WILL DEVELOP ALONG THE FRONT--CREATING A RISK FOR FLASH
FLOODING. BY SUNDAY MORNING, THE FRONT WILL STRETCH FROM THE GREAT
LAKES TO THE SOUTHERN PLAINS--WITH SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ALONG
IT. FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT SEVERE WEATHER, PLEASE VISIT THE
STORM PREDICTION CENTER (WWW.SPC.NOAA.GOV).

AS AN EASTERLY WAVE PASSES OVER FLORIDA AND MOVES INTO THE GULF OF
MEXICO OVERNIGHT, EASTERLY FLOW WILL BRING DEEP MOISTURE AND
INSTABILITY ACROSS THE STATE. CONSEQUENTLY, THE EASTERN AND
SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF FLORIDA CAN EXPECT SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS
THROUGHOUT THE SHORT TERM PERIOD.
