...HEAVY RAIN FOR NEW ENGLAND AND COLDER AIR ARRIVING TO THE
PLAINS AND MIDWEST BY THE END OF THE WEEK...

A STRONG COLD FRONT IS SLOWLY TRACKING ACROSS NEW ENGLAND, WITH A
DEEP FLOW OF MOISTURE AHEAD OF IT. THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL IS
LIKELY TO MATERIALIZE ACROSS MAINE WITH 1 TO 3 INCH RAINFALL
AMOUNTS, WITH ISOLATED HIGHER TOTALS POSSIBLE AS A WAVE OF LOW
PRESSURE DEVELOPS ALONG THIS FRONT AND INTENSIFIES. SOME
INSTANCES OF FLASH FLOODING WILL BE POSSIBLE GIVEN THE ATMOSPHERIC
SET-UP. COOLER AND DRIER CONDITIONS WILL MAKE IT FEEL LIKE FALL
AGAIN BEHIND THE FRONT ACROSS THE EASTERN U.S.

BY WEDNESDAY NIGHT, ANOTHER POTENT STORM SYSTEM WILL BEGIN SINKING
SOUTHWARD FROM CANADA AND BRING A RENEWED SURGE OF COLDER WEATHER
FOR MUCH OF THE PLAINS AND MIDWEST OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. SNOW
SHOWERS ARE LIKELY TO DEVELOP OVER THE ROCKIES FROM MONTANA TO
COLORADO, AND ANOTHER AREA OF SNOW IS EXPECTED OVER PARTS OF THE
EASTERN DAKOTAS AND MINNESOTA AS THE SURFACE LOW DEVELOPS OVER THE
UPPER MIDWEST FRIDAY MORNING. WINDY CONDITIONS BEHIND THE FRONT
WILL MAKE IT FEEL QUITE BLUSTERY.

ELSEWHERE ACROSS THE CONTINENTAL U.S., FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS WILL
BEGIN TO WANE ACROSS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA THROUGH THE END OF THE
WEEK AS THE SANTA ANA WINDS ABATE AND COOLER TEMPERATURES ARRIVE.
COOL AND DRY CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED FOR MOST OF THE INTERMOUNTAIN
WEST THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK.
