...ACTIVE WEATHER PATTERN TO TAKE HOLD ACROSS THE PACIFIC
NORTHWEST AND NORTHERN ROCKIES WITH HEAVY MOUNTAIN SNOWFALL AND
VALLEY RAIN...

...WARMER TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED FOR THE SOUTHERN AND EASTERN
UNITED STATES OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS...

THE MAIN THEME OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS WILL BE A TRANSITION

NORTHWEST, THE NORTHERN ROCKIES AND PARTS OF THE NORTHERN PLAINS.
LOW PRESSURE AND ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT COMING ASHORE IN THE
PACIFIC NORTHWEST TODAY WILL PUSH THROUGH THE INTERMOUNTAIN WEST
AND NORTHERN ROCKIES OVER THE WEEKEND. FALLING TEMPERATURES BEHIND
THE FRONT COMBINING WITH STRONG DYNAMICS ALOFT WILL LEAD TO HEAVY
SNOWFALL ACROSS THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS. WINTER STORM WATCHES,
WARNINGS, AND ADVISORIES ARE IN EFFECT ACROSS THE CASCADES AND
NORTHERN SIERRAS AS WELL AS THE NORTHERN ROCKIES. AS THE COLD
FRONT SLIDES SOUTHEAST MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINFALL IS EXPECTED,

A COLD FRONT WILL CONTINUE TO PUSH ACROSS THE GREAT LAKES AND
THROUGH THE NORTHEAST BY SATURDAY. ONLY LIGHT TO MODERATE
PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED ALONG THE FRONT WITH LITTLE AVAILABLE
MOISTURE. MODEST SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW AHEAD OF THE FRONT WILL ALLOW
WARMER TEMPERATURES TO BUILD ACROSS MUCH OF THE EASTERN U.S.
BEFORE THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY ARRIVES LATE FRIDAY. FURTHER SOUTHWEST
THE COLD FRONT WILL STALL ACROSS THE OHIO AND TENNESSEE VALLEYS
WITH ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES EXPECTED ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PLAINS
