...HEAVY RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOWS POSSIBLE FOR PARTS OF THE PACIFIC
NORTHWEST...

AN UNSETTLED WEATHER PATTERN IS EXPECTED ACROSS MUCH OF THE
NORTHWESTERN QUADRANT OF THE NATION THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE
WEEK. PERSISTENT ONSHORE FLOW WILL BRING SHOWERS AND HIGHER
ELEVATION SNOWS TO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST SUNDAY NIGHT AHEAD OF AN
APPROACHING SURFACE LOW AND COLD FRONT. THIS STORM WILL
STRENGTHEN AND EVENTUALLY MAKE ITS WAY ONSHORE IN BRITISH COLUMBIA
ON MONDAY, WITH MODERATE TO HEAVY PRECIPITATION EXPECTED FROM
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA TO WESTERN WASHINGTON. SOME OF THE MOISTURE
WILL REACH THE NORTHERN ROCKIES BY TUESDAY AS A SURFACE LOW TRACKS
INLAND. TEMPERATURES WILL MODERATE ACROSS MUCH OF THE WESTERN
U.S. AHEAD OF THE DEEP UPPER TROUGH OFFSHORE AND WILL SEE
TEMPERATURES RISE ABOVE NORMAL ACROSS THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN
PLAINS BY THE END OF THE FORECAST PERIOD.

ACROSS THE EASTERN U.S., STRONG HIGH PRESSURE WILL BRIEFLY GIVE
WAY TO A WEAK FRONTAL WAVE MOVING FROM THE PLAINS TO THE EAST
COAST WITH ONLY LIGHT RAIN EXPECTED FOR SOME AREAS. A FRONT
MOVING ACROSS THE NORTHERN PLAINS WITH WARM AIR ADVECTION AHEAD OF
IT WILL LIKELY LEAD TO SCATTERED SHOWERS FROM MISSOURI TO THE
NORTHERN GREAT LAKES BY TUESDAY AFTERNOON. HIGH PRESSURE WILL
REGAIN CONTROL BY TUESDAY FOR THE EASTERN U.S., AND ALTHOUGH
TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN BELOW SEASONAL AVERAGES, THEY WILL NOT
APPROACH THE WINTER LIKE TEMPERATURES EXPERIENCED THE PREVIOUS FEW
DAYS.
