..SNOW FOR THE ROCKIES AND RAIN FOR THE GULF COAST

COASTAL RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW ACROSS THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND
NORTHERN ROCKIES WILL PERSIST AND SPREAD INTO THE ADJACENT
NORTHERN PLAINS AS A COLD FRONT DROPS SOUTH FROM CANADA OVER THE
NEXT FEW DAYS. A STEADY STREAM OF PACIFIC MOISTURE DIRECTED INLAND
WILL AID IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF HEAVY SNOW ACROSS PARTS OF
WASHINGTON STATE AND FOR THE NORTHERN ROCKIES. ADDITIONALLY, PARTS
OF EASTERN ARIZONA AND WESTERN NEW MEXICO HAVE LIGHT SNOW FORECAST
WITH A SURFACE LOW SETTLING SOUTHWARD ACROSS THAT REGION.

A SURFACE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL TRACK THROUGH THE SOUTHERN
ROCKIES AND HANG OUT OVER THE SOUTHERN PLAINS. DEEPER MOISTURE
RETURNING NORTHWARD FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO WILL FIRE SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS ALONG THIS BOUNDARY, WHICH MAY LEAD TO LOCALLY HEAVY
RAINFALL AT TIMES. THE REGION THAT WILL LIKELY GET THE HEAVIEST
RAIN WOULD BE FROM EASTERN TEXAS TO THE CENTRAL GULF COAST REGION,
WITH DAILY AREAL AVERAGES OF 1 TO LOCALLY 2 INCHES FORECAST
THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT. THERE MAY BE A FEW INSTANCES OF FLOODING
WHERE AREAS OF THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY PERSISTS. ELSEWHERE, WARM AND
DRY CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED FOR FLORIDA AND THE LOWER ELEVATIONS
OF CALIFORNIA GOING INTO THE EARLY PART OF THE WORK WEEK.
