...COLDER WEATHER RETURNING TO THE EASTERN U.S. AND MORE MOUNTAIN
SNOW FOR THE NORTHWESTERN STATES...

A DEVELOPING SURFACE LOW OFF THE EAST COAST MONDAY NIGHT AND
TUESDAY IS EXPECTED TO BRING A ROUND OF LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW TO
COASTAL SECTIONS OF NEW ENGLAND. AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE
BEHIND IT TRACKING ACROSS THE APPALACHIANS SHOULD ALSO RESULT IN
SOME LIGHT SNOW ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION AND
INTO UPSTATE NEW YORK THROUGH MIDDAY TUESDAY. MUCH COLDER WEATHER
RETURNS TO THE EAST COAST REGION FOR THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK BEHIND
THE STRONG COLD FRONT WITH CANADIAN HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING INTO
THE AREA.

WINTER WEATHER WILL ALSO BE MAKING HEADLINES FOR THE PACIFIC
NORTHWEST AND THE NORTHERN ROCKIES THROUGH WEDNESDAY, COURTESY OF
AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH, ONSHORE FLOW, AND A COLD FRONT MOVING
THROUGH THE REGION. THE CASCADES OF WASHINGTON ARE LIKELY TO GET
THE HIGHEST SNOWFALL TOTALS, WHICH COULD EASILY EXCEED 18 INCHES
ABOVE PASS LEVEL. UP TO AN INCH OF RAINFALL IS EXPECTED FOR THE
LOWER ELEVATIONS.

THE WARMEST TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE NATION ARE EXPECTED FOR THE
WESTERN HIGH PLAINS FROM WESTERN KANSAS TO WESTERN TEXAS, AND ALSO
FOR THE DESERT SOUTHWEST WITH HIGHS WELL INTO THE 70S AND LOW 80S.
MILD WEATHER IS ALSO EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR THE FLORIDA
PENINSULA. THE NEXT SURGE OF ARCTIC AIR ARRIVES ON WEDNESDAY
ACROSS THE NORTHERN TIER STATES WITH HIGHS BACK BELOW 20 DEGREES
FOR PARTS OF NORTH DAKOTA AND MINNESOTA.
