..RECORD BREAKING HEAT IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST
 
 
...ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAIN AND FLOODING POSSIBLE FOR PARTS OF THE  
SOUTHERN PLAINS AND MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY...  
 
A QUASI-STATIONARY FRONT DRAPED ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PLAINS AND  
MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY WILL BE THE FOCUS FOR ADDITIONAL HEAVY  
RAINFALL OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. BITS OF UPPER-LEVEL ENERGY  
FLOWING ALONG A NORTH-SOUTH AXIS FROM THE GULF INTO THE CENTRAL  
PLAINS WILL ENHANCE INSTABILITY AND MOISTURE OVER THE REGION  
LEADING TO INCREASED THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY. SLIGHT RISKS OF  
EXCESSIVE RAINFALL LEADING TO FLASH FLOODING ARE IN EFFECT OVER  
PARTS OF THE TEXAS GULF COAST OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS DUE TO  
THE HEAVY RAINFALL POTENTIAL OVER WELL SATURATED SOILS FROM THIS  
WEEKEND'S STORMS. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL OF 1-2" ARE POSSIBLE OVER  
PORTIONS OF SOUTH TEXAS AND THE MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY BY  
TUESDAY MORNING. THINGS SHOULD QUIET DOWN ACROSS THE  
AFOREMENTIONED AREAS BY MIDWEEK AS THE FRONT SAGS SOUTHWARD INTO  
THE GULF.  
 
RECORD BREAKING HEAT WILL IMPACT THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST OVER THE  
NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS WHILE WELL BELOW AVERAGE TEMPERATURES IMPACT  
THE GREAT PLAINS. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE UPPER 80S AND  
90S, WHILE LOWS WILL BE IN THE UPPER 50S AND 60S ACROSS COASTAL  
WASHINGTON AND OREGON TODAY, WHICH MAY TIE OR BREAK EXISTING  
RECORDS. THESE TEMPERATURES WILL BE 20-30+ DEGREES ABOVE AVERAGE  
FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN ABOVE AVERAGE  
ACROSS THE DEEP SOUTH, WHILE UPPER TROUGHING WILL BRING COOLER AIR  
TO MUCH OF THE NORTHEASTERN QUADRANT OF THE COUNTRY. SHOWERS AND  
THUNDERSTORMS MAY DEVELOP IN THE MID-ATLANTIC AND SOUTHEAST COAST  
ALONG THE STATIONARY BOUNDARY EXTENDING FROM THE MIDDLE  
MISSISSIPPI VALLEY INTO THE ATLANTIC.
