...MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW FOR THE NORTHERN CASCADES/ROCKIES
TODAY...

...HEAVY TO EXCESSIVE RAINFALL AND WIND IMPACTS
NORTHEAST/MID-ATLANTIC COAST BEGINNING TONIGHT; HEAVY SNOW LIKELY
OVER NORTHERN APPALACHIANS/INTERIOR NORTHEAST...

...COLD FRONT BRINGS COOLER TEMPERATURES FROM MIDWEST TO EAST
COAST...

LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE DUMPING HEAVY RAIN TO THE
WASHINGTON AND OREGON COASTS TODAY WHILE SPREADING SNOW ACROSS THE
NORTHERN CASCADES AND NORTHERN ROCKIES. EXCESSIVE RAINFALL
CONCERNS WILL REMAIN MARGINAL OVER OREGON AS THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL
WILL HAVE ENDED BY THIS MORNING. TEMPERATURES IN THE WEST MODERATE
A BIT FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

IN THE EAST AN AMPLIFIED UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH WILL SUPPORT A DEEP
MID-LATITUDE CYCLONE AS IT MOVES THROUGH THE MIDWEST AND EAST
COAST OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. THIS DYNAMIC SYSTEM WILL BRING
WIND SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO MUCH OF THE EAST COAST TODAY
WHILE SUPPORTING WINTER WEATHER FROM THE CENTRAL APPALACHIANS TO
THE INTERIOR NORTHEAST BEGINNING TONIGHT. HEAVY TO EXCESSIVE
RAINFALL IS EXPECTED FOR MOST OF THE MID-ATLANTIC TO NORTHEAST
COAST, WHILE THERE ARE SEVERE WEATHER CONCERNS FROM THE
MID-ATLANTIC DOWN TO THE SOUTHEAST COAST TODAY. THERE'S A SLIGHT
RISK OF EXCESSIVE RAINFALL LEADING TO FLASH FLOODING FOR PARTS OF
THE NORTHEAST COAST AND SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND TODAY. MODERATE TO
HEAVY SNOW WILL DEVELOP ON THE BACKSIDE OF THIS SYSTEM AS COLD AIR
FLOWS INTO THE INTERIOR NORTHEAST AND DOWN THE SPINE OF THE
NORTHERN/CENTRAL APPALACHIANS TONIGHT. CONDITIONS SHOULD BEGIN TO
IMPROVE MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY MORNING.

A SECONDARY COLD FRONT WILL BRING SNOW SHOWERS TO THE UPPER GREAT
LAKES TODAY. THE LOWER 48 WILL QUIET DOWN CONSIDERABLY AFTER THE
EAST COAST STORM SYSTEM DEPARTS MONDAY NIGHT. TEMPERATURES WILL
DROP ACROSS THE EAST ON THE BACKSIDE OF THE PRIMARY COLD FRONT.
TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE REST OF THE COUNTRY WILL BE SEASONABLE.
DRY AND GUSTY CONDITIONS WILL SUPPORT ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER
CONDITIONS FOR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TODAY.
