THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A  
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF  
 
MUCH OF EASTERN LOUISIANA  
PARTS OF SOUTHWESTERN MISSISSIPPI  
COASTAL WATERS  
 
EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM NOON UNTIL 700  
PM CDT.  
 
TORNADOES...HAIL TO 0.5 INCH IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND  
GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE  
AREAS.  
 
THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 65 STATUTE  
MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 40 MILES NORTH NORTHEAST OF  
MONROE LOUISIANA TO 35 MILES SOUTH OF INTRACOASTAL CITY

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR  
TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH  
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR  
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS  
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.  
 
OTHER WATCH INFORMATION...THIS TORNADO WATCH REPLACES TORNADO  
WATCH NUMBER 771. WATCH NUMBER 771 WILL NOT BE IN EFFECT AFTER  
NOON CDT.  
 
DISCUSSION...VERY MOIST WARM SECTOR CONTINUES TO SPREAD NWD UP THE  
LWR MS RIVER VALLEY AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT AND GRADUALLY DEEPENING  
SURFACE LOW ALONG TX/LA BORDER. STRONG SHEAR PROFILES AND  
SUFFICIENT INSTABILITY WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT SUPERCELLS AND  
ISOLATED TORNADOES ALONG AND AHEAD OF N/S SQUALL LINE ACROSS WRN LA.  
THREAT AREA WILL ALSO DEVELOP FURTHER N DURING THE AFTERNOON ALONG  
WITH THE WARM SECTOR.  
 
AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL  
SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 0.5 INCH. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE  
WIND GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO
