VALID 281200Z - 291200Z

..NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST

..SUMMARY

SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE UNLIKELY ON TUESDAY.

..SYNOPSIS AND DISCUSSION

A POTENT SHORTWAVE TROUGH WILL MOVE EASTWARD ACROSS KS AND OK DURING
THE DAY, AND INTO MO AND AR TUESDAY NIGHT. AT THE SURFACE, A WEAK
AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL TRANSLATE EASTWARD ACROSS NORTHERN OK.
INSTABILITY IS ONLY EXPECTED TO BE PRESENT LATE IN THE DAY AND
OVERNIGHT BENEATH THE UPPER WAVE, WHERE SUBSTANTIAL COOLING WILL
OCCUR ALOFT. THIS MAY BE ENOUGH TO SUPPORT WEAK ELEVATED
THUNDERSTORMS.

TO THE EAST, HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN SITUATED ACROSS THE MID
ATLANTIC, WITH MOIST EASTERLY FLOW ACROSS FLORIDA. HERE, SUFFICIENT
INSTABILITY WILL EXIST FOR A FEW THUNDERSTORMS GIVEN RELATIVELY COOL
500 MB TEMPERATURES ON THE ORDER OF -10 TO -12 C. HOWEVER, SHEAR
WILL BE WEAK AS WILL FORCING FOR ASCENT. STILL, A FEW DIURNAL
THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE.

ELSEWHERE, A FEW LOW-TOPPED THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE NEAR THE
WA AND OR COASTS AS A SHORTWAVE TROUGH MOVES THROUGH DURING THE LATE
AFTERNOON.
