VALID 281200Z - 291200Z

..SYNOPSIS

A COMPACT UPPER LOW, INITIALLY IN THE FOUR CORNERS REGION, WILL
QUICKLY MIGRATE EASTWARD THROUGHOUT THE DAY, REACHING NORTH-CENTRAL
OKLAHOMA LATE IN THE FORECAST PERIOD. AS THIS OCCURS, A SURFACE LOW
WILL ORGANIZE IN THE GENERAL VICINITY OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA WHILE A
COLD FRONT MIGRATES SOUTHWARD ACROSS THE TEXAS SOUTH PLAINS. FIRE
WEATHER CONCERNS WILL EXIST IN A FEW AREAS JUST NORTH OF THE FRONT.
FARTHER WEST, AREAS OF HIGH PRESSURE IN THE GENERAL VICINITY OF THE
GREAT BASIN WILL FOSTER OFFSHORE FLOW IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA,
RESULTING IN ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS THERE.

..WESTERN KANSAS AND THE OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE

MODELS REMAIN CONSISTENT IN DEPICTING 20-25 MPH NORTHERLY FLOW (WITH
HIGHER GUSTS) NORTH OF A COLD FRONT ACROSS WESTERN OKLAHOMA. THESE
WINDS WILL OCCUR AMIDST A RELATIVELY COOL, BUT DRY AIRMASS WITH RH
VALUES FALLING INTO THE 18-25% RANGE BY MID-AFTERNOON. THESE
CONDITIONS, IN TANDEM WITH DRY FUELS, ARE CONSISTENT WITH ELEVATED
FIRE WEATHER CRITERIA.

..SOUTHEASTERN NEW MEXICO INTO WEST TEXAS

AN AREA OF DRY, BREEZY CONDITIONS WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE REGION
DURING PEAK-HEATING HOURS AS THE REGION WILL RESIDE SOUTH THE
AFOREMENTIONED PLAINS COLD FRONT AND WEST OF A SHARPENING SURFACE
TROUGH. AREAS OF 15-25 MPH SURFACE FLOW WILL BECOME COMMON, WITH RH
VALUES FALLING INTO THE 13-20% RANGE AS TEMPERATURES APPROACH 80F.
ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER WILL BE POSSIBLE IN THIS AREA WHERE FUELS ARE
DRY.

..COASTAL RANGES OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

AN OFFSHORE PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL PERSIST ACROSS THE REGION
THROUGHOUT THE FORECAST PERIOD IN RESPONSE TO HIGH PRESSURE IN
PORTIONS OF THE GREAT BASIN. GUSTY NORTHEAST SURFACE WINDS
(EXCEEDING 35 MPH AT TIMES) WILL OCCUR ESPECIALLY IN TERRAIN-FAVORED
AREAS. NEAR-CRITICAL RH VALUES (AROUND 15%) WILL DEVELOP DURING THE
AFTERNOON, WITH RELATIVELY POOR RECOVERY OCCURRING AFTER DARK. AN
ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER DELINEATION REMAINS IN PLACE FOR THIS
FORECAST.
