..NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST

..SUMMARY

ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE COASTAL PACIFIC
NORTHWEST TODAY AND TONIGHT.

..SYNOPSIS/FORECAST

AN INITIALLY ZONAL LARGE-SCALE PATTERN WILL PREVAIL WITH SOME
AMPLIFICATION OCCURRING LATE IN THE PERIOD, MOST NOTABLY AS A TROUGH
AMPLIFIES AND DIGS SOUTHEASTWARD OVER THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. RELATED
TO THIS TROUGH, ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE ALONG THE
COASTAL PACIFIC NORTHWEST, ESPECIALLY TONIGHT AS THE UPPER COLD
POCKET (AROUND -30C AT 500 MB) OVERSPREADS THE REGION.

ELSEWHERE, A SOUTHERN-STREAM CLOSED LOW NEAR THE BAJA PENINSULA WILL
OPEN AND GENERALLY WEAKEN DURING THE PERIOD WITH AT LEAST A GLANCING
INFLUENCE TONIGHT ACROSS AREAS INCLUDING SOUTHEAST ARIZONA,
SOUTHWEST NEW MEXICO AND FAR WEST TEXAS. WHILE SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE,
THE POTENTIAL FOR THUNDERSTORMS SHOULD REMAIN LIMITED BY RELATIVELY
MEAGER LOW/MID-LEVEL MOISTURE.

ADDITIONALLY, A FEW THUNDERSTORMS CAN BE EXPECTED OVER THE ATLANTIC
WATERS OFF THE COAST OF THE CAROLINAS.
