SHOALING AREAS. LONG PERIOD SWELL CAN SHARPEN INTO LARGE BREAKING  
WAVES IN SHOALING AREAS. IT IS NOT UNUSUAL FOR WAVES TO BREAK  
MUCH FARTHER FROM SHOALING AREAS THAN IS NORMALLY EXPERIENCED.
