...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTED FOR THE SOUTHERN  
COASTAL PLAINS TODAY...  
 
DRYING OF FUELS WILL CONTINUE TODAY ACROSS THE SOUTHERN COASTAL  
PLAINS OF PUERTO RICO. RELATIVE HUMIDITIES ARE FORECAST TO DROP IN  
THE LOW TO MID 40%. EAST TO SOUTHEAST WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO  
PREVAIL AROUND 15 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS BETWEEN 14Z-20Z.  
THIS WILL RESULT IN AN ELEVATED FIRE DANGER ALONG THE SOUTHERN  
COASTAL PLAINS.  
 
FIRE AND EMERGENCY OFFICIALS SHOULD BE AWARE THAT WEATHER  
CONDITIONS ARE BECOMING MORE CONDUCIVE FOR THE IGNITION AND  
SPREAD OF WILD FIRES.  
 
FIRE DANGER STATEMENTS ARE ISSUED WHEN FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS  
ARE APPROACHING, BUT NOT MEETING OR EXCEEDING, RED FLAG WARNING  
CRITERIA.
