BEGINNING TUESDAY, MARCH 20, 2018, THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE  
FORECAST OFFICE IN WILMINGTON, NC WILL BEGIN ISSUING RECORD EVENT  
REPORTS FOR LUMBERTON, NC (KLBT) WHENEVER DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE,  
LOW TEMPERATURE, OR MAXIMUM RAINFALL RECORDS ARE TIED OR BROKEN  
AT THE LUMBERTON AIRPORT. THE PRODUCT HEADERS FOR THIS NEW REPORT  
ARE:

AWIPS IDENTIFIER: RERLBT  
 
A RECENTLY COMPLETED PROJECT BY THE NATIONAL CLIMATIC DATA CENTER  
(NCDC) HAS THREADED DATA FROM THE LUMBERTON, NC AIRPORT WITH DATA  
FROM AN HISTORIC NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COOPERATIVE OBSERVER  
STATION IN LUMBERTON. THE LUMBERTON AIRPORT BEGAN COLLECTING  
TEMPERATURE AND PRECIPITATION DATA IN 2000, BUT COOPERATIVE  
STATION OBSERVATIONS DATE BACK TO 1903. MERGING THESE TWO DATASETS  
HAS RESULTED IN A NEARLY-CONTINUOUS 115 YEAR PERIOD OF RECORD FOR  
LUMBERTON.  
 
DAILY NORMAL AND RECORD VALUES FOR HIGH TEMPERATURE, LOW  
TEMPERATURE, AND RAINFALL IN LUMBERTON, NC WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE ON  
THE CLIMATE SECTION OUR WEBSITE AT HTTP://WEATHER.GOV/ILM
