THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG HAS ISSUED A  
 
* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...  
NORTHERN HABERSHAM COUNTY IN NORTHEASTERN GEORGIA...  
SOUTHWESTERN RABUN COUNTY IN NORTHEASTERN GEORGIA...  
 
* UNTIL 345 AM EDT  
 
* AT 945 PM EDT, DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING  
HEAVY RAIN ACROSS THE WARNED AREA. 2 TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN  
OVER THE PAST 2 TO 3 HOURS. ADDITIONAL STORMS ARE MOVING INTO  
HABERSHAM AND RABUN COUNTIES FROM THE SOUTH AND EAST. THESE STORMS  
WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING ANOTHER 1 TO 3 INCHES OF RAINFALL,  
EXACERBATING ANY ONGOING FLOODING AND CAUSING ADDITIONAL FLOODING  
TO DEVELOP. RESIDENTS AND TRAVELERS ARE URGED TO EXERCISE  
EXTREME CAUTION OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS.  
 
* SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE...  
LAKE RABUN, LAKE BURTON, LAKEMONT, SEED LAKE, BATESVILLE, TALLULAH  
FALLS AND TALLULAH GORGE STATE PARK.  
 
* THE FOLLOWING STREAMS ARE EXPERIENCING RAPID RISES AND MINOR TO  
MODERATE FLOODING IS POSSIBLE: IN RABUN COUNTY, TIGER CREEK,  
SAWMILL CREEK, SLICK SHOAL CREEK, WORLEY CREEK, POLE BRIDGE CREEK  
AND OTHER TRIBUTARIES INTO AND INCLUDING THE TALLULAH RIVER. IN  
HABERSHAM COUNTY, RIGHT FORK SOQUEE RIVER, RAPER CREEK, AND OTHER  
TRIBUTARIES INTO AND INCLUDING SOQUEE RIVER.  
 
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...  
 
IN HILLY AND MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN, THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF LOW-WATER  
CROSSINGS WHICH CAN BE DANGEROUS IN HEAVY RAIN. LOW-WATER CROSSINGS  
CAN BE SUBMERGED BY FLOOD WATERS QUICKLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. NEVER  
ATTEMPT TO TRAVEL ACROSS FLOODED CROSSINGS. FIND AN ALTERNATE ROUTE.  
IT TAKES ONLY A FEW INCHES OF SWIFTLY FLOWING WATER TO CARRY VEHICLES  
AWAY.  
 
RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAIN INTO CREEKS AND STREAMS WILL CAUSE SUDDEN  
INCREASES IN WATER LEVELS AND FLOWS, EVEN IN AREAS WHERE RAINFALL HAS  
BEEN LIGHT OR NONEXISTENT. HIKERS, CAMPERS, KAYAKERS, AND OTHER  
INDIVIDUALS OUTDOORS MUST IMMEDIATELY SEEK HIGH GROUND AND AVOID ALL  
STREAMS.  
 
WHEN IT IS SAFE TO DO SO, PLEASE REPORT FLOOD WATERS OR LANDSLIDES  
FLOWING OVER ROADS OR THREATENING PROPERTY TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER  
SERVICE BY CALLING TOLL FREE, 1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1, BY POSTING ON
