SINCE 1858, MEMORIAL DAY HAS BEEN OBSERVED ON THE 30TH OF MAY. BUT  
IN 1971, IT WAS CHANGED, BECOMING THE FINAL MONDAY OF MAY. AT THAT  
TIME, THE CONCEPT OF THE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND CAME INTO BEING.  
 
AFTER A ROUGH WINTER, IT APPEARS THAT MUCH OF THE REGION WILL HAVE A  
VERY WARM AND SUNNY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND, PERHAPS THE WARMEST SINCE  
THE EARLY 1970S.
