DISCUSSION.  
 
A POTENT WINTER STORM SYSTEM WENT THROUGH SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN  
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 18, BRINGING WIDESPREAD SNOWFALL AND BLOWING  
SNOW. FREEZING RAIN WAS ALSO REPORTED NEAR THE CYPRESS HILLS, MAKING  
TRANSPORTATION DIFFICULT.  
 
THE FOLLOWING SNOWFALL AMOUNTS WERE REPORTED FROM VOLUNTEERS ON THE  
COCORAHS NETWORK OVER THE PREVIOUS 24 HOURS (IN CM):  
 
REGINA AREA: 9-14  
BREDENBURY AREA: 10  
STRASBOURG AREA: 9  
MARYFIELD AREA: 8  
SASKATOON AREA: 6-8  
NORTH BATTLEFORD AREA: 6  
CLAVET AREA: 6  
 
THE VOLUNTEER OBSERVER IN THE SHAUNAVON AREA MEASURED 13.2 MM OF  
PRECIPITATION OVER THE PREVIOUS 24 HOURS, AS WELL, WHICH FELL AS  
SNOW, RAIN, AND/OR FREEZING RAIN.  
 
REPORTS IN THE MEDIA ALSO SUGGEST SWIFT CURRENT RECEIVED SNOWFALL  
AMOUNTS OF 20 CM OR MORE FROM THE STORM.
