WEATHER SUMMARY FOR THE QIKIQTAALUK AREA ISSUED BY ENVIRONMENT CANADA  
AT 8:11 P.M. EDT SUNDAY 17 AUGUST 2014.  
 
AN AREA OF RAIN SPREAD NORTHWARD ACROSS SOUTHERN BAFFIN ISLAND  
OVER THE PAST 24 HOURS ASSOCIATED WITH A SLOW MOVING TROUGH OF  
LOW PRESSURE. THIS SYSTEM PRODUCED GENERALLY 20 TO 40 MM OF  
RAIN IN MANY LOCATIONS. THE RAIN IS TAPERING OFF THIS EVENING  
AS THIS SYSTEM WEAKENS. AS WELL AN INTENSE DISTURBANCE OVER  
THE WESTERN KIVALLIQ BROUGHT HEAVY RAIN AND SCATTERED  
THUNDERSTORMS TO THE WESTERN HUDSON BAY COMMUNITIES TODAY.  
VERY STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS WILL DEVELOP IN THE WAKE OF THIS  
SYSTEM LATE TONIGHT AND MONDAY FOR THE WESTERN HUDSON BAY  
COMMUNITIES.
