==DISCUSSION==

A PROLONGED PERIOD OF SNOW SQUALLS PRODUCING BLIZZARD-LIKE
CONDITIONS IS EXPECTED.

ADDITIONAL SNOWFALL: LOCALLY 5 CM WHERE SNOW SQUALLS SET UP AND ARE
MOST PERSISTENT.

MAXIMUM WIND GUSTS: WESTERLY 70 KM/H.

LOCATIONS: SOUTHERN NEWFOUNDLAND AND THE AVALON PENINSULA.

TIME SPAN: CONTINUING TONIGHT.

REMARKS: CONDITIONS ARE FAVOURABLE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF INTENSE
SNOW SQUALLS. VISIBILITY MAY BE REDUCED TO NEAR ZERO FOR EXTENDED
PERIODS AS STRONG WESTERLY WINDS ACCOMPANY THE SQUALLS.

THE FLURRIES AND SNOW SQUALLS WILL SUBSIDE ON WEDNESDAY EXCEPT OVER
THE BURIN AND AVALON PENINSULAS WHERE THEY WILL GIVE WAY TO MORE
WIDESPREAD SNOWFALL AS A WEAK DISTURBANCE CROSSES THE AREA. AN
ADDITIONAL 5 TO 10 CM OF SNOWFALL CAN BE EXPECTED ON WEDNESDAY WITH
THIS SYSTEM.

SNOW SQUALLS CAUSE WEATHER CONDITIONS TO VARY
CONSIDERABLY(SEMICOLON) CHANGES FROM CLEAR SKIES TO HEAVY SNOW
WITHIN JUST A FEW KILOMETRES ARE COMMON. TRAVEL MAY BE HAZARDOUS DUE
TO SUDDEN CHANGES IN THE WEATHER.

SNOW SQUALL WATCHES ARE ISSUED WHEN CONDITIONS ARE FAVOURABLE FOR
THE FORMATION OF BANDS OF SNOW THAT COULD PRODUCE INTENSE
ACCUMULATING SNOW OR NEAR ZERO VISIBILITIES.
