..HEAVY RAIN AND STRONG WINDS FRIDAY

A STORM FORCE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL BRING SIGNIFICANT WEATHER
TO SE ALASKA ON FRIDAY. RAINFALL WILL BEGIN THURSDAY EVENING ALONG
THE SOUTHERN OUTER COAST WITH A WARM FRONT, BECOMING HEAVY AT
TIMES AS IT SPREADS NORTHWARD OVERNIGHT. THE COLD FRONT WILL BE
STRONGER, MOVING INLAND WEST TO EAST ACROSS THE PANHANDLE FRIDAY
MORNING. RAINFALL RATES WILL INCREASE TO AROUND A HALF INCH OVER
3 HOURS, FOR A TOTAL OF 1 TO 3 INCHES THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT.

A HIGH WIND WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR THE OUTER COAST FROM
CAPE FAIRWEATHER TO CAPE SUCKLING. THE REST OF THE OUTER COAST AND
LOCATIONS NEAR CLARENCE STRAIT WILL SEE A SHORT PERIOD OF STRONG
WIND GUSTS OF 45 TO 55 MPH OUT OF THE SE WITH THE FRONTAL
PASSAGE. WIND GUSTS OF 40 TO 45 MPH ARE ALSO FORECAST OVER THE
REMAINDER OF THE INNER CHANNELS. EXPECT A WIND SHIFT TO THE SW
BEHIND THE FRONT.

DUE TO THE FAST MOVING NATURE OF THIS WEATHER SYSTEM AND SOME
DRYING THAT HAS OCCURRED DURING THE DAY THURSDAY, FLOODING WILL
BE LIMITED. HOWEVER, RAPIDLY RESPONDING CREEKS AND RIVERS WILL
LIKELY REACH BANKFULL OR EVEN APPROACH MINOR FLOOD STAGE FOR A
SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. PONDING OF WATER ON ROADWAYS IS ALSO LIKELY.
