HEAVY RAINFALL OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS IS PRODUCING RISES ON THE  
CAHABA RIVER NEAR SUTTLE AND AT MARION JUNCTION. HOWEVER...LEVELS  
ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN BELOW ESTABLISHED FLOOD STAGES...AND ANY  
OVERFLOW ALONG THE RIVER SHOULD BE OF A MINOR NATURE.  
 
THE CAHABA RIVER NEAR SUTTLE.  
LATEST STAGE: 31.4 FEET AT 8 AM SUNDAY.  
CAUTION STAGE: 28 FEET.  
FLOOD STAGE: 32 FEET.  
FORECAST: FALL TO NEAR 30.9 FEET THIS AFTERNOON  
AND THEN CONTINUE TO FALL.  
 
* IMPACT...AT 32 FEET...FLOODING OF PASTURE LANDS AND LOW-LYING  
AGRICULTURAL LANDS OCCURS IN THE SUTTLE AREA.  
 
THE CAHABA RIVER AT MARION JUNCTION.  
LATEST STAGE: 32.4 FEET AT 8 AM SUNDAY.  
CAUTION STAGE: 15 FEET.  
FLOOD STAGE: 36 FEET.  
FORECAST: CREST NEAR 32.7 FEET THIS AFTERNOON  
AND THEN BEGIN TO FALL.  
 
* IMPACT...AT 36 FEET...FLOODING IS CONFINED MAINLY TO FARM AND  
PASTURE LANDS IN THE AREA.  
* IMPACT...AT 15 FEET...FLOODING AROUND OAKMULGEE CREEK BEGINS AND  
CATTLE NEED TO BE MOVED TO HIGHER GROUND. OVERFLOW OF PASTURE LANDS  
INCREASES AT STAGES ABOVE 20 FEET.

STATEMENTS CONCERNING THIS EVENT.  
 
IT IS EMPHASIZED THAT THESE FORECASTS ARE BASED ON RAINFALL THAT HAS  
ALREADY OCCURRED AND ON ADDITIONAL RAINFALL EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT  
48 HOURS. IF MORE RAINFALL THAN IS CURRENTLY FORECAST OCCURS IT MAY  
BECOME NECESSARY TO REVISE THESE FORECASTS UPWARD.
