..RIVER STATEMENT FOR THE ALABAMA RIVER
 
 
.HEAVY RAINFALL EXPECTED IN THE NEXT 24 TO 72 HOURS MAY PRODUCE  
RISES ON THE ALABAMA RIVER. HOWEVER, LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN  
BELOW ESTABLISHED FLOOD STAGES, AND ANY OVERFLOW ALONG THE RIVER  
SHOULD BE OF MINOR NATURE.  
 
THE ALABAMA RIVER AT MONTGOMERY.  
* AT 7:00 AM CST SUNDAY THE STAGE WAS 25.2 FEET.  
* ACTION STAGE IS 26.0 FEET.  
* FLOOD STAGE IS 35.0 FEET.  
* FORECAST...THE RIVER IS EXPECTED TO RISE TO A CREST OF 26.5 FEET  
EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING.  
* IMPACT...AT 26.0 FEET...SOME FLOODING OF LOW LYING AREAS AND  
SECONDARY ROADS BEGINS IN THE MONTGOMERY AREA. FLOODING OF THE  
GOLF COURSE AT MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE AND PORTIONS OF RIVER ROAD  
OCCURS AT STAGES AROUND 30 FEET AND HIGHER.  
 
ANOTHER STATEMENT WILL BE ISSUED BY MONDAY MORNING, OR SOONER IF  
CONDITIONS WARRANT.

LATER STATEMENTS CONCERNING THIS EVENT.  
 
IT IS EMPHASIZED THAT THESE FORECASTS ARE BASED ON RAINFALL THAT HAS  
ALREADY OCCURRED AND ON ADDITIONAL RAINFALL EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT  
48 HOURS. IF MORE RAINFALL THAN IS CURRENTLY FORECAST OCCURS IT MAY  
BECOME NECESSARY TO REVISE THESE FORECASTS UPWARD.
