..RIVER STATEMENT FOR THE TOMBIGBEE RIVER AT BEVILL LOCK AND DAM
 
 
HEAVY RAINFALL IS PRODUCING RISES ON THE TOMBIGBEE RIVER AT BEVILL  
LOCK AND DAM. HOWEVER...LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN BELOW  
ESTABLISHED FLOOD STAGES...AND ANY OVERFLOW ALONG THE RIVER SHOULD  
BE OF A MINOR NATURE.  
 
THE TOMBIGBEE RIVER AT BEVILL LOCK AND DAM.  
LATEST STAGE: 117.2 FEET AT 7 PM THURSDAY.  
CAUTION STAGE: 122 FEET.  
FLOOD STAGE: 122 FEET.  
FORECAST: CREST NEAR 127.9 FEET SATURDAY EVENING  
AND THEN BEGIN TO FALL.  
 
* IMPACT...AT 128 FEET...CATTLE IN THE AREA SHOULD BE MOVED TO  
HIGHER GROUND. FLOODING OF SOME CABINS AND CAMPS ALONG THE RIVER  
CAN BE EXPECTED.  
* IMPACT...AT 122 FEET...CATTLE IN LOW-LYING AREAS OF SOUTHERN  
PICKENS COUNTY SHOULD BE MOVED TO HIGHER GROUND. CATTLE ARE CUTOFF  
IN LOWLANDS OF SOUTHERN PICKENS COUNTY AT STAGES ABOVE 122 FEET.

STATEMENTS CONCERNING THIS EVENT.  
 
IT IS EMPHASIZED THAT THESE FORECASTS ARE BASED ON RAINFALL THAT HAS  
ALREADY OCCURRED AND ON ADDITIONAL RAINFALL EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT  
48 HOURS. IF MORE RAINFALL THAN IS CURRENTLY FORECAST OCCURS IT MAY  
BECOME NECESSARY TO REVISE THESE FORECASTS UPWARD.
