DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES HAS RECEIVED 1.99 INCHES OF RAIN SO FAR  
FROM THIS LATEST STORM, BRINGING THE TOTAL RAINFALL FOR FEBRUARY  
2024 TO 12.56 INCHES. THIS IS NOW THE 4TH WETTEST FEBRUARY IN  
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES SINCE RECORDS BEGAN IN 1877. IT IS THE  
WETTEST MONTH IN 26 YEARS, SINCE FEBRUARY 1998, WHICH  
HAPPENED TO BE THE WETTEST FEBRUARY EVER WITH 13.68 INCHES  
OF RAIN.  
 
FEBRUARY 2024 IS NOW TIED (WITH JANUARY 1995) FOR THE 7TH  
WETTEST CALENDAR MONTH SINCE WEATHER RECORDS BEGAN IN DOWNTOWN  
LOS ANGELES IN JULY 1877, A TOTAL OF 1760 MONTHS. THE  
WETTEST MONTH EVER WAS DECEMBER 1889, DURING WHICH A WHOPPING  
15.80 INCHES OF RAIN FELL.  
 
THIS MONTH IS ONLY THE 10TH CALENDAR MONTH DURING WHICH A FOOT  
OR MORE OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES.  
 
THE RAINFALL TOTAL OF 12.56 INCHES OF RAIN (SO FAR) THIS FEBRUARY  
IS 88 PERCENT OF THE AVERAGE SEASONAL RAINFALL IN DOWNTOWN LOS  
ANGELES, WHICH IS 14.25 INCHES (BASED ON THE 30-YEAR PERIOD  
FROM 1991 TO 2020).  
 
THE RAINFALL TOTAL FOR THE 2023-2024 WATER YEAR NOW STANDS AT  
17.79 INCHES, WHICH IS ABOUT 8 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL TO DATE,  
AND MORE THAN 3.5 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR.  
THE OFFICIAL WATER YEAR RUNS FROM OCTOBER 1ST THROUGH SEPTEMBER  
30TH OF THE FOLLOWING YEAR. EVEN IF NO MORE RAIN FALLS THROUGH  
SEPTEMBER, WHICH IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY, RAINFALL FOR THE SEASON  
WILL BE 125 PERCENT OF NORMAL.  
 
AT LOS ANGELES AIRPORT, FEBRUARY 2024 IS NOW THE 3RD WETTEST  
FEBRUARY AND THE 5TH WETTEST OF ANY MONTH SINCE RECORDS  
BEGAN THERE IN 1944.  
 
AT LONG BEACH AIRPORT, THIS IS THE 2ND WETTEST FEBRUARY ON  
RECORD, AND THE 3RD WETTEST OF ANY MONTH, WHILE AT BURBANK  
AIRPORT, IT IS THE 6TH WETTEST FEBRUARY AND THE 12TH WETTEST  
MONTH ON RECORD. RECORDS AT LONG BEACH AIRPORT DATE BACK TO  
1958, WHILE RECORDS BEGAN IN BURBANK IN 1939.
