COMPUTERS CAN AFFECT THE RECEPTION OF TONE ALERTS. SOMETHING AS  
SIMPLE AS NEARBY ELECTRICAL WIRING OR FLUORESCENT LIGHTS MAY ALSO  
CONTRIBUTE TO A DECREASE IN SIGNAL STRENGTH.
