FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA
AND EAST CENTRAL GEORGIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLUMBIA SC
300 PM EDT TUE MAY 21 2019

DISCUSSION

A WEAK FRONTAL BOUNDARY ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA
WILL SLOWLY DISSIPATE THROUGH WEDNESDAY AS HIGH PRESSURE
RESTRENGTHENS OVER THE REGION. THERE IS A SMALL CHANCE FOR
AFTERNOON SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WEDNESDAY, AS A MOIST ONSHORE
FLOW INTERACTS WITH THE WEAK BOUNDARY DURING THE WARMEST PART OF
THE DAY.

FOG POTENTIAL FOR TONIGHT: WITH A REDUCTION IN LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE
AND DEVELOPING CLOUDINESS LIMITING RADIATIONAL COOLING LATE TONIGHT,
ONLY PATCHY FOG NEAR RIVER VALLEYS IS ANTICIPATED. BETTER LOW-LEVEL
MOISTURE WEDNESDAY NIGHT MAY ALLOW SOME FOG TO DEVELOP.

SURFACE WINDS WEDNESDAY WILL BE FROM THE EAST-SOUTHEAST LESS THAN
5 MPH AFTER DAYBREAK, THEN BECOME SOUTHEAST AROUND 5 MPH THROUGHOUT.
TRANSPORT WINDS WILL BE SOUTHEAST AT 5 TO 10 MPH THROUGH MUCH OF
THE DAY.

MOSTLY DRY AND UNSEASONABLY WARM WEATHER WILL THEN CONTINUE
THURSDAY THROUGH SUNDAY. FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE PERIOD,
NO MORE THAN ISOLATED AFTERNOON SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE
EXPECTED DUE TO THE STRENGTH OF THE HIGH PRESSURE.
