..PATCHY ICING CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE OVERNIGHT

TEMPERATURES IN MANY MOUNTAIN LOCATIONS WILL BE NEAR OR BELOW
FREEZING EARLY THIS MORNING. THIS COULD PERMIT PATCHES OF BLACK
ICE TO DEVELOP ON AREA ROADWAYS IN LOCATIONS THAT DID NOT DRY OUT
SUFFICIENTLY ON SUNDAY. IN ADDITION, PATCHY FREEZING DRIZZLE, VERY
LIGHT FREEZING RAIN, AND FREEZING FOG COULD DEVELOP IN SOME
LOCATIONS OVERNIGHT, ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS,
THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS, AND AREAS NEAR THE TENNESSEE BORDER. THIS
TOO COULD LEAD TO A LIGHT GLAZE OF ICING IN SOME SPOTS, ESPECIALLY
ON ELEVATED SURFACES.

PLAN AHEAD TO ALLOW EXTRA TRAVEL TIME THIS MORNING. BE ESPECIALLY
CAUTIOUS ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES. WATCH CAREFULLY FOR BLACK ICE
WHEN DRIVING OR WALKING SINCE IT MAY BE VERY DIFFICULT TO SPOT ON
THE PAVEMENT. THE FOG COULD ALSO MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT.

..PATCHY BLACK ICE MAY DEVELOP EARLY THIS MORNING

TEMPERATURES IN MANY MOUNTAIN, FOOTHILL, AND NORTHWEST PIEDMONT
LOCATIONS WILL FALL TO NEAR, OR BELOW, THE FREEZING MARK
EARLY THIS MORNING. THIS COULD PERMIT PATCHES OF BLACK ICE TO
DEVELOP ON AREA ROADWAYS IN LOCATIONS THAT DID NOT DRY
SUFFICIENTLY TODAY. IN ADDITION, PATCHY DENSE FOG COULD DEVELOP IN
SOME AREAS. WHERE THE VISIBILITIES FALL SHARPLY ENOUGH, PATCHY
FREEZING FOG WILL BE POSSIBLE, WHICH COULD LEAD TO A LIGHT GLAZE
OF ICE ON SOME SURFACES.

PLAN AHEAD TO ALLOW EXTRA TRAVEL TIME THIS MORNING. BE ESPECIALLY
CAUTIOUS ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES. WATCH CAREFULLY FOR BLACK ICE
WHEN DRIVING OR WALKING SINCE IT MAY BE VERY DIFFICULT TO SPOT ON

..PATCHY DENSE FOG THIS MORNING

LIGHT WINDS AND ABUNDANT MOISTURE NEAR THE SURFACE ARE PERMITTING
FOG TO DEVELOP QUICKLY ACROSS NORTHEAST GEORGIA AND WESTERN
PORTIONS OF UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA. THE FOG MAY BECOME DENSE IN A
FEW LOCATIONS OVERNIGHT, REDUCING VISIBILITIES TO ONE-QUARTER TO
ONE- HALF MILE, OR LESS, AT TIMES.

USE CAUTION IF TRAVELING IN THE AREA EARLY THIS MORNING. ALLOW
EXTRA TRAVEL TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION, REDUCE YOUR SPEED,
AND ALLOW EXTRA STOPPING DISTANCE. USE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS AND FOG
LAMPS IF YOU ENCOUNTER DENSE FOG.
