...WEAK DISTURBANCE BETWEEN SATAWAL AND WOLEAI MOVING SLOWLY
WESTWARD...

A VERY WEAK CIRCULATION IS SEEN ON SATELLITE IMAGES OVER EASTERN YAP
STATE BETWEEN SATAWAL AND WOLEAI, ROUGHLY NEAR 6N146E. IT IS SLOWLY
MOVING WEST. IT HAS BEEN LABELED INVEST 97W BY THE JOINT TYPHOON
WARNING CENTER.

MUCH OF THE CONVECTION AND HEAVY SHOWERS THAT DEVELOPED LAST NIGHT
HAVE DISSIPATED DURING TODAY, BUT IT WILL CONTINUE TO BE MONITORED.
CONVERGING SURFACE WINDS COULD RE-DEVELOP AND TRIGGER LOCALLY HEAVY
SHOWERS AND GUSTY WINDS AGAIN LATER TONIGHT.

INVEST 97W HAS BECOME MORE DISORGANIZED AND IS EXPECTED TO DRIFT
WESTWARD, EVENTUALLY OPENING INTO A SURFACE TROUGH AND MERGING WITH
THE NEAR-EQUATORIAL TROUGH (NET) BY FRIDAY AS IT APPROACHES 140E.
UNTIL THEN, PULSES OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WITH STRONG, GUSTY
WINDS ARE EXPECTED IN THE BROAD REGION BETWEEN YAP AND CHUUK.

THIS IS THE LAST SCHEDULED STATEMENT FOR 97W, BUT RESIDENTS AND
MARINERS ARE STILL URGED TO KEEP AWARE OF LATEST FORECASTS FOR THE
REGION AT WEATHER.GOV/GUM/PUBLICFORECASTS AND FOR MORE INFORMATION ON
INVEST 97W, SEE BULLETINS ISSUED BY THE JTWC UNDER WMO HEADER ABPW10
