HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PADUCAH KY
411 AM CDT MON JUN 29 2020

...HEAVY RAIN AND FLASH FLOODING POSSIBLE TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY
OVER PART OF THE QUAD STATE REGION...

A DEEPENING AREA OF LOW PRESSURE, MEANDERING ACROSS THE MIDDLE
MISSISSIPPI VALLEY THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS, WILL SET THE STAGE
FOR A HIGHLY FOCUSED ZONE OF HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS PARTS OF THE
QUAD STATE REGION.

THE INCREASE IN RAINFALL AMOUNTS COULD OCCUR AS EARLY AS LATE
TONIGHT OVER PARTS OF SOUTHEAST MISSOURI AND SOUTHWEST ILLINOIS.

THE AREA OF GREATEST CONCERN WOULD BE SOUTHERN ILLINOIS, NORTH OF
ROUTE 13 TO INTERSTATE 64, ALL OF SOUTHWEST INDIANA, AND THE
PENNYRILE REGION OF WEST KENTUCKY, NORTHEAST OF THE LAND BETWEEN
THE LAKES.

THE TIME PERIOD FOR HEAVY RAINFALL WOULD LIKELY BE TUESDAY AND
TUESDAY NIGHT.

THE POTENTIAL FOR VERY EFFICIENT RAINFALL RATES, COMBINED WITH
THE MOVEMENT OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE SAME AREA FOR A
LONG PERIOD OF TIME, COULD LEAD TO NARROW BANDS OF TORRENTIAL
RAINFALL WHICH MAY CAUSE FLASH FLOODING.

THERE STILL REMAINS SOME UNCERTAINTY AS THE SPECIFIC LOCATION AND
EXACT TIMING OF THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL, BUT THIS SITUATION WILL
CONTINUE TO BE MONITORED FOR THE FLOODING POTENTIAL ON TUESDAY.
