..FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON
 
 
* WHAT...URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOODING CAUSED BY EXCESSIVE  
RAINFALL CONTINUES.  
 
* WHERE...A PORTION OF NORTHERN RHODE ISLAND, INCLUDING THE  
FOLLOWING COUNTIES, KENT AND PROVIDENCE.  
 
* WHEN...UNTIL 400 PM EDT.  
 
* IMPACTS...FLOODING OF RIVERS, CREEKS, STREAMS, AND OTHER LOW-LYING  
AND FLOOD-PRONE LOCATIONS IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING. INDUSTRIAL  
ROAD IN CUMBERLAND IS CLOSED DUE TO FLOODING. LOW LYING FLOODING  
WILL OCCUR ALONG THE REACH OF THE WOONASQUATUCKET RIVER BETWEEN  
CENTERDALE AND NORTH PROVIDENCE. IT WILL TAKE SEVERAL HOURS FOR  
ALL THE WATER FROM THESE STORMS TO WORK THROUGH LOCAL DRAINAGE  
SYSTEMS IN URBAN AREAS. BE ALERT TO AREAS OF HIGH WATER ON ROADS  
DURING THE AFTERNOON COMMUTE.  
 
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...  
- AT 1003 AM EDT, DOPPLER RADAR AND AUTOMATED RAIN GAUGES  
INDICATED HEAVY RAIN. RAIN INTENSITY AND RAIN RATES HAVE BEEN  
MORE GRADUAL THAN YESTERDAY. HOWEVER DUE TO LOCAL RAIN AND  
RUNOFF FROM PREVIOUS RAINS, THE WOONASQUATUCKET RIVER REMAINS  
IN MINOR FLOOD STAGE AT A LEVEL OF 6.08 FT. BETWEEN 4 AND 10  
INCHES OF RAIN HAVE FALLEN SINCE YESTERDAY IN THE WARNED  
AREA. THE FLOOD WARNING HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL 400 PM.  
- ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS UP TO 1.5 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN  
THE WARNED AREA. THIS MAY WORSEN AND/OR TRIGGER NEW AREAS OF  
FLOODING IN THE WARNED AREA.

PROVIDENCE, WARWICK, CRANSTON, PAWTUCKET, EAST PROVIDENCE,  
WOONSOCKET, CUMBERLAND, NORTH PROVIDENCE, JOHNSTON, NORTH  
ATTLEBOROUGH, ATTLEBORO, SMITHFIELD, LINCOLN, CENTRAL FALLS,  
BURRILLVILLE, NORTH SMITHFIELD, SCITUATE, GLOCESTER,  
PLAINVILLE AND FOSTER.
