DISCUSSION

HIGH PRESSURE WILL MOVE OFF THE SOUTHEAST COAST TODAY. SKY WILL BE MOSTLY
CLEAR AT FIRST, BUT SOME SCATTERED CLOUDS WILL MOVE IN OR DEVELOP THIS
AFTERNOON. WIND DIRECTION AT THE SURFACE MAY BE VARIABLE THROUGH MUCH OF
THE MORNING AND INTO THE AFTERNOON. THE WIND MAY TEND TO SWIRL BECAUSE OF
THE SHAPE OF THE NEARBY TERRAIN. HOWEVER, THE WIND DIRECTION SHOULD FAVOR
WESTERLY THIS AFTERNOON AS THE OVERALL PATTERN BRINGS THE WIND DOWN THE
VALLEY OF APPLETREE BRANCH CREEK. A DOWNSLOPE WIND SHOULD DEVELOP DURING
THE MIDDLE PART OF THIS EVENING AND A STABLE INVERSION SHOULD SET UP IN
THE VALLEY BY THE EARLY MORNING HOURS ON THURSDAY.

A DISTURBANCE PUSHING INTO THE REGION WILL BRING INCREASING SHOWER
AND THUNDERSTORM CHANCES LATE THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY. A BUILDING RIDGE
OVER THE SOUTHEAST WILL SUPPORT GENERALLY QUIET WEATHER THIS WEEKEND
INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK. THE ONE EXCEPTION BEING THE MOUNTAINS WHERE
AFTERNOON CONVECTION WILL BE POSSIBLE ESPECIALLY BY EARLY NEXT WEEK.
