..AREAS OF FOG AND TEMPERATURES NEAR FREEZING

THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT, LOW HANGING CLOUDS WILL RESULT IN AREAS OF
FOG WHERE THE MOUNTAIN RIDGES COME IN CONTACT WITH THE CLOUD BASE.
VISIBILITY FOR THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS MAY DROP TO NEAR ZERO AT
TIMES. THE PRIMARY IMPACT WILL BE TO THE BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY AND
INTERSTATE 77 NEAR FANCY GAP, IN ADDITION TO HIGHWAYS THAT CROSS
MOUNTAIN RIDGES, SUCH AS HIGHWAY 39 ACROSS WARM SPRINGS MOUNTAIN,
AND ROUTE 311 ACROSS PETERS MOUNTAIN.

TEMPERATURES WILL ALSO BE IN THE LOWER 30S WHICH MAY PROMOTE SOME
ADDITIONAL ICING. HOWEVER, TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO RISE
OVERNIGHT LIMITING ANY ADDITIONAL IMPACTS FROM THE ICING THAT HAS
ALREADY OCCURRED. MOST REPORTS INDICATE THE ICING TO BE CONFINED
MAINLY ON ELEVATED SURFACES WITH LITTLE IMPACT TO THE ROADS.
