THE CALENDAR YEAR 2022 AT THE GRAND FORKS UNIVERSITY (NWS) WAS  
WETTER THAN NORMAL WITH AVERAGE TEMPERATURES BELOW NORMAL.  
 
THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE YEAR WAS 39.1 DEGREES WHICH WAS 1.5  
DEGREES BELOW NORMAL.  
 
PRECIPITATION FOR THE YEAR WAS 24.42 INCHES WHICH IS 1.58 INCHES  
ABOVE NORMAL. THE MARCH THROUGH MAY PERIOD WAS THE WETTEST PERIOD OF  
THE YEAR. THE JUNE TO OCTOBER PERIOD WAS ON THE DRIER SIDE AND LED  
TO DROUGHT CONDITIONS DEVELOPING ACROSS THE AREA. A WET DECEMBER  
CONTRIBUTED TO PUSHING THE PRECIPITATION TOTALS BACK TO ABOVE NORMAL  
FOR THE YEAR.  
 
TOTAL SNOWFALL FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR WAS WELL ABOVE NORMAL. THERE  
WAS 80.7 INCHES OF SNOW WHICH IS 31.2 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL. FOUR  
MONTHS HAD THE GREATEST TOTALS WITH FEBRUARY SEEING 15.5 INCHES,  
APRIL WITH 16.1 INCHES, NOVEMBER WITH 12.7 INCHES AND DECEMBER WITH  
24.8 INCHES CONTRIBUTING 69.1 INCHES OF SNOWFALL TO THE OVERALL HIGH  
TOTAL FOR THE YEAR.
