SHORT RANGE DISCUSSION FOR OPS AREA ALPHA AND THE ECHOES, CFB HALIFAX
PROPERTIES AND 12 WING SHEARWATER

PERIOD OF COVERAGE: 1800Z 21 JAN TO 0400Z 23 JAN.

MODEL DISCUSSION: USED RDPS.
CONFIDENCE: HIGH.
COMMENTS/IMPACTS: A SMALL TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE WILL PASS THRU THE
OPS AREA EARLY THIS EVENING. IT CARRIES SOME LIGHTER SOUTHWEST
WINDS, AND SOME EMBEDDED CONVECTION. THE LATEST GUIDANCE SUGGESTS
THAT THE HIGHEST RISK OF LOWER VISIBILITIES WILL BE IN THE OFFSHORE
DIP SECTORS. THIS WILL ALL BE MOVING OUT SHORTLY AFTER ISSUE
TIME, WITH A WIND SHIFT TO THE NORTH. A DECK OF MID CLOUD FROM AN
OFFSHORE LOW WILL MOVE THRU THE OPS AREA OVERNIGHT, WITH THE
HIGHEST RISK OF LIGHT SNOW IN THE SOUTHERN OFFSHORE REGIONS. WINDS
WILL SHIFT TO THE NORTHWEST EARLY WEDNESDAY AS HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS
IN AND CLEAR OUT THE SKIES. WINDS WON'T DIMINISH TO LIGHT UNTIL
LATE IN THE DAY HOWEVER.

LONG RANGE DISCUSSION FOR OPS AREA ALPHA AND THE ECHOES, CFB HALIFAX
PROPERTIES AND 12 WING SHEARWATER
PERIOD OF COVERAGE: 0400Z 23 JAN TO 0400Z 26 JAN.

MODEL DISCUSSION: USED THE GDPS.
CONFIDENCE: HIGH.
COMMENTS/IMPACTS: THE MODEL RUN HAS STAYED CONSISTENT WITH LAST
NIGHT'S RUN SO NO SIGNIFICANT ADJUSTMENTS ARE REQUIRED THIS
AFTERNOON.
ON THURSDAY ANOTHER TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE SLIDES ACROSS NOVA
SCOTIA. JUST A FEW FLURRIES AND A WIND SHIFT BACK TO SOUTHWEST ARE
FORECAST WITH A MODERATING TEMPERATURE LATE IN THE DAY.
ON FRIDAY, THE WEATHER IS PUSHED OUT TO SEA WITH A BUILDING RIDGE
OF HIGH PRESSURE. IT IS RISKY TO FORECAST TO FORECAST SUNSHINE IN A
COOL NORTHWEST FLOW, BUT THE MODELS ARE ALL SHOWING PLENTY OF DRY
AIR AROUND.
A WESTERLY FLOW IS IN STORE FOR SATURDAY WITH COOLER AIR REMAINING
IN PLACE. SOME CLOUDINESS IS EXPECTED TO DRIFT IN OFF THE BAY OF
FUNDY IN THIS FLOW.
