FOR HURRICANE ERNESTO.  
 
AN INTERMEDIATE UPDATE WILL BE PROVIDED BY 6:30 A.M. NDT. THE NEXT  
FULL INFORMATION STATEMENT WILL BE ISSUED BY 9:30 A.M. NDT.  
 
HURRICANE ERNESTO WILL CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE AS IT TRACKS  
EAST-NORTHEASTWARD OVER THE GRAND BANKS THIS MORNING. ERNESTO IS  
EXPECTED TO EXIT THE NORTHERN GRAND BANKS MARINE AREA BETWEEN 8 AND  
9 AM NDT THIS MORNING.  
 
1. SUMMARY OF BASIC INFORMATION AT 3:30 A.M. NDT.  
 
LOCATION: NEAR 46.8 NORTH 50.8 WEST.  
 
ABOUT 175 KILOMETRES EAST OF CAPE RACE.  
 
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS: 120 KM/H.  
 
PRESENT MOVEMENT: EAST-NORTHEAST AT 56 KM/H.  
 
MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE: 979 MILLIBARS.  
 
2. PUBLIC WEATHER IMPACTS AND WARNINGS SUMMARY.  
 
HEAVY RAINFALL WAS SIGNIFICANT AS SEEN ON HOLYROOD RADAR AND IS SOON  
ENDING. THE NEXT INTERMEDIATE BULLETIN ISSUED AT 6:30 NDT WILL  
INCLUDE A FEW RAINFALL TOTALS.  
 
DETAILS:  
 
A. WIND.  
 
CAPE RACE REPORTED A PEAK WIND GUST TO 67 KM/H. ST. JOHNS AIRPORT  
REPORTED A WIND GUST TO 52 KM/H. AS EXPECTED, WIND OVER LAND AREAS  
WAS NOT SIGNIFICANT.  
 
B. RAINFALL.  
 
A HEAVY BAND OF RAINFALL MOVED INTO SOUTHEASTERN NEWFOUNDLAND LATE  
LAST EVENING AND IS MOVING OUT OF THE REGION CURRENTLY. A PRIVATE  
STATION IN CAPE PINE REPORTED 20.1 MM IN AN HOUR.  
 
C. SURGE/WAVES.  
 
SWELLS ALONG THE ATLANTIC COAST OF NOVA SCOTIA ARE BEGINNING TO  
SUBSIDE AS REPORTED BY THE HALIFAX HARBOUR BUOY. SIGNIFICANT WAVE  
HEIGHTS AT BANQUEREAU BANK BUOY PEAKED AT 8.1 METRES AT 7:30 NDT  
MONDAY EVENING AND HAVE SINCE SUBSIDED BELOW 4 METRES.  
 
LARGE WAVES IMPACTING THE SOUTHERN COASTLINE OF NEWFOUNDLAND WILL  
BEGIN TO SUBSIDE LATER THIS MORNING.  
 
3. MARINE WEATHER IMPACTS AND WARNINGS SUMMARY.  
 
ALL MARINE WARNINGS FOR THE MARITIMES HAVE BEEN ENDED.  
 
FOR NEWFOUNDLAND WATERS, STORM WARNINGS REMAIN IN EFFECT FOR THE  
GRAND BANKS AND EAST COAST - NORTH OF CAPE ST. FRANCIS. A GALE  
WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR SOUTH COAST.
