SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT FOR:

==DISCUSSION==  
 
HEAVY RAIN AND STRONG WINDS WILL IMPACT THE EASTERN KITIKMEOT  
BEGINNING THURSDAY NIGHT AND WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE WEEKEND.  
 
RAIN WILL MOVE INTO THE AREA THURSDAY NIGHT AND WILL INTENSIFY ON  
FRIDAY. THERE IS SOME UNCERTAINTY REGARDING THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF RAIN  
THAT WILL FALL AT EACH COMMUNITY. GENERALLY, AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED TO  
BE BETWEEN 20 AND 40 MM. THE RAIN MAY CHANGE TO SNOW ON SATURDAY.  
PERIODS OF RAIN OR WET SNOW WILL LINGER INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK.  
 
STRONG WIND GUSTS WILL BEGIN TO SURFACE FRIDAY MORNING AS WELL. WIND  
GUSTS OF 70 TO 90 KM/H FROM THE EAST ARE POSSIBLE ON FRIDAY AND  
FRIDAY NIGHT. THESE WINDS WILL TAPER OFF BY SATURDAY MORNING, BUT  
WILL SHIFT, STRENGTHEN AND BLOW UP TO 70 KM/H FROM THE WEST FOR THE  
REMAINDER OF THE WEEKEND.  
 
CONDITIONS WILL IMPROVE EARLY NEXT WEEK.
