ALBERTA...OVER SOUTHERN ALBERTA, THE REMNANTS OF AN ALBERTA CLIPPER
IS BRINGING SOME SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW TO THE SOUTHEASTERN PORTIONS
OF THE PROVINCE, WHERE BLOWING SNOW ADVISORIES ARE IN EFFECT.
ADDITIONALLY, A WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR MEDICINE HAT AND
THE CYPRESS HILLS WHERE WIND GUSTS TO 90 KM/H ARE STILL LIKELY THIS
MORNING. THE BLOWING SNOW AND STRONG WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO TAPER OFF
BY MID MORNING.

A SHORTWAVE MOVING IN FROM THE NT WILL TRACK THROUGH ALBERTA TODAY
AND TONIGHT, BRINGING A FEW CM OF SNOW TO MUCH OF THE PROVINCE.
BEHIND THIS SHORTWAVE, AN ARCTIC RIDGE WILL USHER IN SOME COLD AIR
FOR THE WEEKEND. A FEW EXTREME COLD WARNINGS ARE POSSIBLE BY
SATURDAY MORNING FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHERN AND EASTERN ALBERTA WHERE
THE COLD ARCTIC AIR WILL COMBINE WITH OUTFLOW OUT OF THE RIDGE TO
GIVE WINDCHILL VALUES NEAR -40.

NORTHERN SK... CLEAR AND COLD TODAY AND THOUGH THE WEEKEND AS AN
ARCTIC RIDGE MOVES INTO THE REGION. EXPECT SOME EXTREME COLD
WARNINGS TO BE ISSUED OVER THE COMING DAYS.
SOUTHERN MANITOBA...VERY STRONG NORTHERLY WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO
DEVELOP OVER THE RED RIVER VALLEY AND INTERLAKE THIS MORNING AS THE
LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVES INTO NW ONTARIO AND THE TRAILING COLD FRONT
SWEEPS ACROSS THE REGION. GUSTS TO 90 KM/H WILL GIVE NEAR-ZERO
VISIBILITY IN SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW IN THE OPEN COUNTRYSIDE, WITH
TEMPERATURES FALLING FROM A MILD START EARLY THIS MORNING INTO THE
MINUS TEENS BY THIS AFTERNOON. CONDITIONS IN BUILT-UP URBAN AREAS
(SUCH AS WINNIPEG) WILL LIKELY FALL A BIT SHY OF TRUE BLIZZARD
CRITERIA GIVEN THAT NOT MUCH FRESH SNOW IS EXPECTED WITH THIS SYSTEM,
BUT OUTSIDE OF THESE AREAS VERY POOR VISIBILITY CAN BE EXPECTED.
ROAD CLOSURES, INCLUDING THE TRANS-CANADA, YELLOWHEAD AND PERIMETER
ARE LIKLEY LATER TODAY. THE BLIZZARD WILL TAPER OFF LATER THIS
AFTERNOON OR EARLY THIS EVENING AS WINDS DIMINISH.

MUCH OF THE REMAINDER OF SOUTHERN MANITOBA WILL SEE POOR VISIBILITY
IN SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW TODAY, ALTHOUGH NOT AS BAD AS THE RED RIVER
VALLEY.

FAR NORTHERN MANITOBA...BLIZZARD CONDITIONS ARE ALSO EXPECTED IN
CHURCHILL TODAY WITH STRONG NORTHERLY WINDS AND FALLING TEMPERATURES.
BLIZZARD CONDITIONS ARE NOT EXPECTED SOUTH OF THE TREELINE, BUT
EXTREME COLD WARNINGS ARE IN EFFECT FOR BROCHET AND TADOULE LAKE.

SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN...POOR VISIBILITY IN SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW IS
ALSO EXPECTED IN SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN THIS MORNING, GENERALLY SOUTH
OF THE YELLOWHEAD. CONDITIONS SHOULD IMPROVE LATER THIS MORNING AS
WINDS DIMINISH.

BAKER LAKE/ARVIAT...BLIZZARD CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE
DAY WITH VERY STRONG NORTHERLY WINDS AND BITTERLY COLD WIND CHILL
VALUES. THE BLIZZARD SHOULD END TONIGHT OR SATURDAY MORNING.

CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO IMPROVE BY THE END OF THE WEEKEND.
