WEATHER BULLETIN FOR CFB SHILO AND RANGE PREPARED BY THE JOINT
METEOROLOGICAL CENTRE AT 5:57 AM CST TUESDAY 19 NOVEMBER 2024.

LOCATION: CFB SHILO (CWLO)

TYPE: WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT

DESCRIPTION: HAZARDOUS WINTER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED
VALID: UNTIL 20/2200Z (UNTIL 20/1600 CST)

COMMENTS: A DEEP LOW-PRESSURE SYSTEM OVER THE MIDWEST U.S WILL MOVE
NORTHWARD TOWARDS THE MANITOBA AND ONTARIO BORDER TODAY. IT
WILL BRING RAIN, FREEZING RAIN, SNOW AND STRONG WINDS TO
SOUTHWESTERN MANITOBA BEGINNING EARLY THIS MORNING AND CONTINUING
THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND INTO WEDNESDAY.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
ESTIMATED TIMINGS AND AMOUNTS...
19/1800Z TO 20/2000Z... SNOWFALL (AMOUNTS 15 TO 20 CM)
20/0300Z TO 20/2200Z... WIND (MAX GUST NEAR 40 KT)
19/1000Z TO 19/1600Z... FREEZING PRECIPITATION (TRACE)
--------------------------------------------------------------------

TEMPERATURES IN THE SHILO REGION REMAIN MARGINALLY ABOVE ZERO THIS
MORNING, REDUCING THE RISK OF WIDESPREAD FREEZING RAIN. PATCHY
FREEZING RAIN REMAINS POSSIBLE OVER PARTS OF THE SHILO RANGE.

AS THE LOW MOVES FURTHER NORTHWARD, COLDER AIR WILL BECOME WRAPPED
BEHIND THE SYSTEM, WITH PRECIPITATION CHANGING TO SNOW NEAR NOON
TODAY. AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF SNOW IS EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON
THROUGH THE NIGHT AND INTO WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. SNOWFALL AMOUNTS
BETWEEN 15 TO 20 CM ARE LIKELY, WITH POTENTIAL FOR HIGHER AMOUNTS
OVER HIGHER TERRAIN.

IN ADDITION, GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS WILL DEVELOP AS THE SYSTEM MOVES
TO THE NORTH AND INTENSIFIES OVER EASTERN MANITOBA, BEGINNING
TONIGHT. WIND GUSTS NEAR 30 KNOTS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP
TUESDAY NIGHT, THEN INCREASE TO BETWEEN 35 AND 40 KNOTS OVERNIGHT
THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING. THESE STRONG WINDS WILL RESULT IN VERY
POOR VISIBILITY IN SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW. THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE
OF GUSTS REACHING 45 KNOTS EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING, HOWEVER
CONFIDENCE OF THIS OCCURING IS LOW.

SNOW IS EXPECTED TO TAPER TO FLURRIES AND STRONG WINDS ARE EXPECTED
TO GRADUALLY DIMINISH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AS THE LOW WEAKENS.

NEXT UPDATE: THIS BULLETIN WILL BE UPDATED BY 20/0000Z (19/1800 CST)
