DISCUSSION
 
 
AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF RAINFALL AND HIGH RELATIVE HUMIDITY WILL BE  
THE MAIN WEATHER THEMES THAT WILL DOMINATE THE FORECAST FOR THE NEXT  
FEW DAYS. AN ORGANIZED AREA OF LOW PRESSURE MOVED INTO THE REGION  
AND WILL SIT AND SPIN OVER SOUTH DAKOTA THROUGH FRIDAY. THIS WILL  
GIVE MOST OF THE AREA PERIODS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS, SOME OF  
WHICH WILL CONTAIN LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL. NO SEVERE STORMS ARE  
EXPECTED. DRIER CONDITIONS AND SEASONAL TEMPERATURES WILL RETURN  
THIS WEEKEND. LOWEST RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES WILL BE FEATURED  
ACROSS FAR NORTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA AND WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA  
THURSDAY AFTERNOON RANGING FROM 70-75 PERCENT. WINDS WILL GENERALLY  
REMAIN OUT OF AN EAST TO NORTHEAST DIRECTION THURSDAY RANGING  
BETWEEN 10-20 MPH.

AND OTHER DRY ORGANIC MATERIAL ON THE GROUND, INDICATE THAT THE  
PROBABILITY OF A FAST MOVING FIRE IS LOW. OUTDOOR BURNING UNDER  
THESE CONDITIONS CAN USUALLY BE PERFORMED WITH REASONABLE SAFETY  
PRECAUTIONS, BUT SHOULD BE MONITORED.  
 
THE OUTLOOK FOR THURSDAY AFTERNOON...THE GRASSLAND FIRE DANGER INDEX
