KEY MESSAGES

ISSUED AT 242 AM CST MON NOV 18 2024

- COLDEST TEMPERATURES OF THE SEASON EXPECTED TUESDAY NIGHT INTO
WEDNESDAY MORNING. MOST OF THE AREA WILL SEE TEMPERATURES FALL
INTO THE 20'S BY WEDNESDAY MORNING.

SHORT TERM

(THIS EVENING THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT)
ISSUED AT 156 PM CST MON NOV 18 2024

MUCH QUIETER CONDITIONS EXPECTED TONIGHT. RAIN WILL CONTINUE TO
PULL AWAY FROM THE NORTHEAST PANHANDLES THIS AFTERNOON AND ANY
REMAINING WIND GUSTS WILL DIMINISH WITH SUNSET, IF NOT BEFORE.
GIVEN THE AMOUNT OF RAINFALL TODAY, WOULDN'T BE COMPLETELY
SURPRISED IF THERE WAS PATCHY FOG HERE OR THERE, BUT CONFIDENCE IS
QUITE LOW GIVEN GENERAL LIGHT WESTERLY FLOW OVERNIGHT. OTHER MAIN
CONCERN DUE TO THE RAINFALL ARE THE HIGHER FLOWS ON RIVERS ACROSS
THE EASTERN TEXAS PANHANDLE. HOWEVER, THESE RIVERS APPEAR TO HAVE
ALL CRESTED AND WILL CONTINUE TO RECEDE THIS EVENING.

ON TUESDAY, AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH WILL GRAZE THE PANHANDLES. A
WEAK BOUNDARY WILL PUSH THROUGH THE NORTHEAST PANHANDLES DURING
THE MORNING HOURS, BUT LITTLE CHANGE IN TEMPERATURES FROM TODAY
WILL BE NOTED. HOWEVER, A STRONGER COLD FRONT WILL PUSH THROUGH
THE PANHANDLES TUESDAY AFTERNOON. A FEW BREEZES WILL BE NOTED, BUT
THE BIGGER STORY WILL BE THE COLDER TEMPERATURES TUESDAY NIGHT.
NEARLY ALL AREAS ARE EXPECTED TO DIP DOWN INTO THE 20S WITH WIND
CHILLS IN THE TEENS. IT'S LIKELY THESE WILL BE THE COLDEST
TEMPERATURES THE AREA HAS EXPERIENCED YET THIS SEASON! IF HEADED
OUT TUESDAY NIGHT OR EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING, MAKE SURE TO DRESS
WARMLY.

LONG TERM

(WEDNESDAY THROUGH NEXT SUNDAY)
ISSUED AT 156 PM CST MON NOV 18 2024

WEDNESDAY WILL BE QUIET WITH LITTLE CHANGE TO TEMPERATURES DESPITE
LOW LEVEL SOUTHERLY FLOW RETURNING. THE WARM-UP BEGINS THURSDAY
AND WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE WEEKEND AS H5 HEIGHTS RISE DUE TO
AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE DEVELOPING FIRST OVER NM THEN TRANSLATING
EASTWARD THROUGH THE PERIOD. THERE WILL BE A WEAK FRONTAL
BOUNDARY ARRIVES ON THURSDAY, BUT OTHER THAN SWITCHING WINDS
AROUND TO THE NORTH, WILL HAVE LITTLE, IF ANY, IMPACT. SOUTHERLY
WINDS RETURN FOR FRI/SAT THEN ANOTHER WEAK FRONT WILL PUSH
THROUGH THE AREA ON SUNDAY. OVERALL, A QUIET WEATHER PERIOD WILL
BE IN STORE.

AVIATION

(18Z TAFS)
ISSUED AT 1123 AM CST MON NOV 18 2024

THE UPPER LEVEL LOW IS EXITING THE NORTHEAST PANHANDLES LATE THIS
MORNING, BUT A LARGE AREA OF RAIN CONTINUES. AS THE LOW PULLS
AWAY, PRECIPITATION WILL END FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST AND MVFR
TO IFR CIGS WILL GRADUALLY IMPROVE TO VFR. ALL PRECIPITATION
SHOULD EXIT THE AREA BY 22Z. VFR CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL
THEREAFTER. ADDITIONALLY, NORTHWEST TO WEST WINDS WILL GUSTS TO
BETWEEN 20 AND 30KT THROUGH MID TO LATE AFTERNOON BEFORE
DECREASING.
