DISCUSSION

ISSUED AT 225 PM CST SAT JAN 25 2025

WITH HIGH PRESSURE MOVING INTO NORTH DAKOTA, SKIES HAVE CLEARED
OUT. WITH THE COLD FRONTAL PASSAGE WELL BEHIND US, WINDS ARE
CALMING DOWN TO GUSTING 15-20 MPH. THE CENTER OF THE SURFACE
HIGH IS IN THE EASTERN HALF OF MONTANA. ALOFT THE PATTERN IS A
WEAK NORTHERLY FLOW, WITH A TILTED RIDGE TO OUR WEST. BLOWING
SNOW, VIA SATELLITE, CONTINUES IN THE JAMES RIVER VALLEY. THIS
WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE EVENING, UNTIL WINDS CALM MORE.

STARTING SUNDAY, WE WILL BE WELL ABOVE AVERAGE FOR TEMPERATURES.
STRONGER NORTHWEST FLOW WILL SETUP OVER THE NORTHERN PLAINS, BUT
WARMER AIR AT 850MB AND BREEZY WINDS WILL MIX THE WARMER
TEMPERATURES TO THE SURFACE. WINDS WILL BE BREEZY FROM A
PRESSURE GRADIENT OFF A LOW PRESSURE CLIPPER SYSTEM MOVING
THROUGH THE GREAT LAKES THROUGH TUESDAY. WINDS SHOULD BE CALMER
AFTER TUESDAY THEN. LITTLE TO NO SNOW IS EXPECT THROUGH MOST OF
NEXT WEEK, UNTIL A POSSIBLE COLORADO LOW MOVES INTO THE MIDWEST
VERY LATE NEXT WEEK. THERE IS CURRENTLY SCATTERED SLIGHT
CHANCES (15%) FOR SNOW ACROSS THE COUNTY WARNING AREA FOR THIS.
TEMPERATURES LOOK LIKE THEY COULD COOL BACK TO AVERAGE OR BELOW
NEXT WEEKEND AS WELL. THE CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER'S FIRST
WEEK OF FEBRUARY SHOWS CHANCES OF BELOW AVERAGE TEMPERATURES
AND POSSIBLY ABOVE AVERAGE PRECIPITATION.
