DISCUSSION

ISSUED AT 250 AM CST THU NOV 21 2024

LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE THIS MORNING AND WILL
GRADUALLY TRANSITION TO LAKE-ENHANCED RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS
ACROSS NORTHWEST WISCONSIN TODAY AS AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE
RESIDES OVER LAKE MICHIGAN. SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE
MINIMAL, WITH UP TO AN INCH POSSIBLE IN THE IRON COUNTY SNOWBELT
BY MIDDAY BEFORE TRANSITIONING TO ALL RAIN. WITH THE LOW STILL
DEEPENING THIS MORNING, A STAUNCH PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL FORM
WITH WINDY NORTHWESTERLY WINDS FORMING TODAY WITH GUSTS REACHING
45 TO 50 MPH ESPECIALLY ALONG THE NORTH SHORE. WITH A LARGE
PORTION OF THE POPULATION IN THE SOUTHERN ST. LOUIS COUNTY AND
CARLTON ZONE BEING AFFECTED BY THE STRONGER WINDS, EXPANDED THE
WIND ADVISORY TO INCLUDE THIS AREA.

DRY WEATHER IS EXPECTED FOR MOST OF THE REGION ON FRIDAY AND
SATURDAY. THE NEXT CHANCE FOR ACCUMULATING SNOW ARRIVES LATE
SUNDAY AS A CLIPPER SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO CROSS POTENTIALLY
GIVING A COATING OF SNOW TO MOST OF THE NORTHLAND; HOWEVER,
GUIDANCE IS STILL QUITE VARIABLE WITH ITS HANDLING OF THIS
FEATURE AND ANYTHING BEYOND. SO, NOT TOO SOLD ON ANY ONE
SOLUTION AND THE MEAN OF THEM SEEMS LIKE A GOOD BET FOR NOW
WHICH BRINGS AN INCH OR TWO OF SNOW SUNDAY INTO MONDAY MAINLY
NORTH OF HINCKLEY.

AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z FRIDAY/

ISSUED AT 519 AM CST THU NOV 21 2024

OBS AND GUIDANCE HAVE BEEN TRENDING MORE TOWARDS IFR, SO LARGELY
WENT WITH THAT FOR MOST SITES TODAY. COULD BE ONE OF THOSE
STRADDLING 1000 FOOT CEILING DAYS. WINDS WILL ACCELERATE FROM
THE NW BECOMING QUITE GUSTY TO 35 TO 40 KT THROUGH THE DAYLIGHT
HOURS BEFORE DECREASING IN INTENSITY IN THE EVENING. CONSIDERED
ADDING LLWS, BUT IT SEEMS SHEAR IS UNIDIRECTIONAL ENOUGH TO BE
BELOW CRITERIA.

MARINE /FOR NEAR SHORE WATERS OF WESTERN LAKE SUPERIOR/

ISSUED AT 250 AM CST THU NOV 21 2024

NORTHWESTERLY WINDS WILL PERSIST THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT BEFORE
GRADUALLY SHIFTING TO NORTHEASTERLY ON SATURDAY, DIMINISHING TO
