DISCUSSION

KEY MESSAGES:

- DRY WEATHER WITH GRADUALLY WARMER TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED
THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

- MONSOONAL MOISTURE WILL DRIFT INTO NE MONTANA ON EITHER THURSDAY
OR FRIDAY WITH CHANCES FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS INTO THE
WEEKEND.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

NORTHWEST FLOW ALOFT WILL PREVAIL TODAY WITH A DEEP TROUGH TO OUR
EAST AND AN UPPER RIDGE TO OUR WEST AND SOUTHWEST. THE UPPER
RIDGE WILL DRIFT EAST BY WEDNESDAY WITH GRADUALLY WARMER
TEMPERATURES.

THE UPPER RIDGE ALSO CONTAINS LOTS OF MONSOONAL MOISTURE AND WILL
START DRIFTING OUR WAY THIS WEEK. AN UPPER LOW OFF THE PACIFIC NW
COAST WILL NUDGE THIS INTO MONTANA, SPECIFICALLY INTO NE MONTANA
THURSDAY EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY. PRECIPITABLE WATERS WILL RISE
SO THUNDERSTORMS WITH BRIEF HEAVY RAIN AND GUSTY WINDS CAN BE
EXPECTED, HOWEVER THE STRONGEST STORMS MAY BE SOUTH OF AREA.

IN THE MEANTIME, EXPECT MAINLY CLEAR SKIES IN ALL AREAS THROUGH
TUESDAY. THEN, THERE WILL BE A GRADUAL INCREASE IN MID AND HIGH
CLOUDS MAINLY IN THE SW STARTING TUESDAY NIGHT WHICH WILL SPREAD
TO THE NE WEDNESDAY NIGHT. IT LOOKS LIKE IT WILL TAKE UNTIL
THURSDAY NIGHT FOR THE MONSOONAL MOISTURE TO MOISTEN THE
ATMOSPHERE ENOUGH FOR THE CHANCES FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO
BEGIN OVER THE FORECAST AREA.

CLOUDS AND THE SCATTERED SHOWERS WILL COOL TEMPERATURES SLIGHTLY
FRIDAY. TEMPERATURES MAY WARM A BIT ON SUNDAY AS THE SYSTEM EXITS
TO OUR EAST.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:
INCREASED WINDS A FEW MPH FOR THE NEXT TWO DAYS. NO OTHER
DEVIATION TO THE NBM AT THIS TIME.

HIGH CONFIDENCE OF HIGH PRESSURE REMAINING OVER THE AREA THROUGH
WEDNESDAY AND THEREFORE DRY CONDITIONS. LOW CONFIDENCE ON
