DISCUSSION

KEY MESSAGES:
- WINTRY TRAVEL IMPACTS LIKELY FOR THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY TRAVELERS
THURSDAY EVENING THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT.

- ARCTIC AIR WILL THEN MOVE IN FOR THE WEEKEND. LOWS SATURDAY
NIGHT COULD BE BELOW ZERO FOR MOST OF THE AREA.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:
A WEAK SYSTEM OVER THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST HAS SPREAD CLOUDS INTO
CENTRAL MONTANA THIS AFTERNOON. A LITTLE BIT OF LIGHT SNOW IS
EXPECTED TO MOVE THROUGH THE SW ZONES MAINLY EARLY WEDNESDAY WITH
SOME SUNSHINE RETURNING TO ALL AREAS BY THE AFTERNOON.

THE NEXT SYSTEM WILL BE MORE IMPACTFUL, SENDING AN AREA OF
SNOWFALL INTO THE WESTERN ZONES THURSDAY EVENING THAT GRADUALLY
DIMINISHES FRIDAY AND FRIDAY NIGHT. THE GREATEST SNOWFALL OUT OF
THIS LOOKS TO OCCUR OVER SW PHILLIPS COUNTY WITH 6 TO 12 INCHES.
SOUTHERN PHILLIPS, GARFIELD AND PETROLEUM COUNTIES LOOK TO PICK UP
SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW (FROM BOTH WPC AND THE NBM), SO ADVISORIES
LOOK LIKE A GOOD BET AS TIME DRAWS CLOSER.

THEN AN ARCTIC AIRMASS WILL SETTLE IN FOR SATURDAY THROUGH MONDAY
WITH HIGHS GENERALLY 20 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. SATURDAY NIGHT COULD
BE THE FIRST NIGHT BELOW ZERO FOR MOST OF THE AREA THIS SEASON.

IT LOOKS LIKE THE ARCTIC GRADUALLY LIFTS OUT MONDAY AND TUESDAY
BUT CONFIDENCE IS SHAKY ON EXACT TEMPS AT THIS POINT.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:
CONFIDENCE IS INCREASING WITH THE NEXT SYSTEM MOVING IN THURSDAY
NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT IN ACCUMULATING SNOW. SOUTHERN AND SW
PHILLIPS, PETROLEUM AND GARFIELD LOOK TO GET THE LION'S SHARE OF
THIS WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS IN THE LITTLE ROCKIES.

CONFIDENCE IS ALSO INCREASING ON THE COLD EXPECTED FOR THE WEEKEND
WITH TEMPS ABOUT 20 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL.

GENERALLY WENT WITH NBM ON ALL FORECAST NUMBERS. TFJ
